In the film Ian McKellan's character, while quite clearly hating the Catholic Church, says, just as clearly, that responsibility for the cover-up lies not with them or Opus Dei, but just with a select few members of both. I thought it was OK btw, a bit over long and dull in bits and certainly lackin...

It's 6 words, a film and quite easy I think. :)

It has been a long time since I read any Pern books but I thoroughly enjoyed them as a teenager, maybe I should give them another shot. :) I'd love to have seen a Ron Moore adaptation, and I'm glad he stuck to his guns re the changes, but given the amount of special effects needed I can't help but f...

That sounds like so much fun Alatar (although I think I'd prefer MithLuin's timetable) and we've meant to do it for ages now but never quite got round to it. I think that my aversion to TTT is partially responsible, even though I found the extended version much better, I still can't watch Aragorn fa...

People around you were talking and eating crisps? How rude!

I'm really looking forward to this now - it's been ages since I got a real Tolkieny fix! :D

Well that was an interesting discussion. :) When I first heard of MBTI I was vaguely interested and I did an online test and read the type descriptions. But I confess that I thought no more of it than that until I started to see people saying things like, "Well A is an INTJ and so that explains...

My apologies for posting under Angel's log in. And frankly, I must state that your indifference to religion makes your remarks rather beside the point here. You don't think there is anything at stake in whatever people do or don't believe. I see no point in antagonising anyone with more 'beside the ...

Having read Whistler's post I won't bother to post my further thoughts on the subject. I am an unbeliever too and as such am largely indifferent to religion, although I bear it no ill will.

I had thought that that wouldn't matter in this discussion.

I enjoyed it because I was interested in the puzzle solving aspect of things - as I read it I had the book in one hand and my google search in the other:D. It was fun looking up the artwork and architecture that he talked about and seeing if I could see what he claimed to see. As I said earlier I th...

I agree with Alatar (well except where he gets shouty ;)) I like TDC, I like Big Brother, I like Ballet, I like Poetry, I like Folk Music and I like Limericks. I don't like Page 3 and I don't much care for Opera. I don't think that you can dismiss taste as being either 'low brow' or 'high brow' what...

Are previews somehow different from trailers? We've had them here at other films and on the TV.

I don't think that Alatar's spoiler will really spoil the film either btw - I knew it already and am still planning on going. :)
