My tongue was somewhat in cheek, though I'm really at a loss as to what you'd call it when you mate with yourself. Seriously. You know some ego-maniac out there is going to try it. I guess, in the case of a lesbian couple, the concern comes down to the quality of the DNA in the bone marrow sperm. If...

So if you fertilize one of your eggs with sperm made from your bone marrow, does that count as cloning or is it just incest?

What would the far-righties do if that happened? Stay home?

I think most OB/GYNs agree with you on that too Prim. I read an Op/Ed piece a long time ago written by an OB/GYN and she said point blank that late term abortions are never done unless something has already gone horribly wrong with the pregnancy. If you're that far along and decide you don't want yo...

Heaven?

Christians Wrong about Heaven, says Bishop It looks like we all go to, for lack of a better term, the Halls of Mandos for a while. Then we come back and remake this world. Even though I'm not a believer, I found this very interesting as it flies in the face of everything that's in our culture. It m...

Just out of curiousity, when he was VP, how did Gore get along with the Clintons?

Cerin, I'm asking this not to be derisive or anything but only out of curiosity--is there anything about Barack Obama that causes you to particularly doubt his integrity? You just seem to be very skeptical of Obama, even though it's been hard for anyone to find "dirt" on him, but very def...

In light of this, I guess my biggest concern about Hillary (aside from her hawkishness and general Clinton baggage - do you really think that what happened in the '90's won't happen again and do you really want to have to live through that shit all over again??) is will she allow dissent within her ...

Word on the street is McCain is pro-science. I went to a global warming teach-in last week. One of the questions thrown at the panel was "Who should we vote for?" The consensus from the five scientists on the panel was McCain or any Democrat. I would not be happy if McCain won, but I would...

So am I. If it comes down to super delegates, there will be a lot of deeply embittered voters out there. I personally would be irritated enough to burn things. Well, that's a bit extreme, but I'd definitely join the hue and cry. What's the point if the system is so blatantly rigged?

CO went to Obama, but I think CNN knew that before I even came home from my precinct's caucus (our captain called in our results as soon as we had them). In my precinct, six of our seven delegates went to Obama. The other one went to Clinton. By the time the meeting officially began, most of us had ...

Cerin wrote:Perhaps the best thing I could do tomorrow would be to vote in the Republican primary, and vote for Romney, since he will probably be easier to defeat than McCain.
Is that allowed in your state? Because in mine you can only vote in your registered party's primary. Independents are SOL.

IIn that book, the people who were in great misery did not engender much sympathy or help. After all, they must have earned all that bad karma in a previous life, right? I haven't read the book, but I just wanted to say that this is completely orthogonal to the way I've thought of karma. Doesn't co...

There's a climate change teach-in on my campus this week. This evening, I went to see the 11th hour and stuck around for a Q&A session with some local scientists afterward, including the director of the fuel cell group at NREL (and he had some very interesting things to say). Among the questions...
