Oh goodness, how darling is that tweet. What a lovely, lovely man he is.
Glad you liked the movie! I bet the cast had a heck of a lot of fun making it too!

Re: The last movie you saw Thread
Y'all. Y'ALL! i just got backed from Knives Out, a new whodunit style movie starring Daniel Craig and a bunch of other wonderful people, and I gotta say it's the most fun I've had at the movie all year* and possibly last year too. It's a total crowd pleaser, just fun and delightful from start to fin...

Re: Parodies
To be clear, in that first robot video, the robot in that is 100% CGI. I've been a fan of their work for a bit and they post some amazing effects work. Nothing to be afraid of - yet!

Re: The last movie you saw Thread
Huh. Can't say I've ever seen "genius" as a defining trait of the Joker. Was Jack Nicholson's Joker a genius? My favorite Joker is the version from the beloved Batman The Animated Series (fantastically played by Mark Hamill) and while he was clever and wily, I can't say I ever thought of h...

Re: The last movie you saw Thread
Joker wasn't born a criminal genius, he becomes one. It's very easy to see the man at the end of the movie become the madman criminal we all know. I certainly didn't think Joker was sympathetic or that Wayne was a jerk. Just that, rather brilliantly IMO, nobody is *always* just perfectly good or per...

Re: The last movie you saw Thread
I mean, I don't necessarily disagree.... but I don't really agree either. In the world of comic booking, there are about 1000 different versions of every major character, so it's hard to say "this is what this character is". Personally my favorite part of the movie is how it doesn't feel l...

Is this a RL buddy? Cuz if so, your RL friends are far, far, far, far, far nerdier than mine.

"I find it really disrespectful that so many people insist that Queen was Freddie." I kinda wanna say.....too bad? Like, I'm sorry that some of the songs the other guys wrote became massive international hits because they were sung by one of the most legendary, charismatic singers of the c...

Re: What's in a name?
I mean, they're certainly allowed to call themselves whatever they like. But they can't force what people think of them and to many people, that ain't Queen.
People don't really care who wrote the songs, they care who brought them to life for them, and in this case, that person was Freddie.

I don't recall seeing that before either. Very impressive! Something about him even kinda looks like Freddie, somehow. Still couldn't hit that one ultra-super-high note though, poor guy.

Re: TV obsessions—come on, admit it!
I've never watched Avatar and was never really interested in it as I generally don't like anime, but a while ago I watched the first season of Legend of Korra, which is set in the Avatar universe, and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch the rest of the show a...

Ooh, that 2nd one is pretty cool.
Perhaps the connection is simply that Lenin and Joker are both, shall we say, not very nice people.

There's a scene at the end of the movie that resembles that image, but otherwise can't say I get it.

Re: The last movie you saw Thread
I agree with just about every word of that, from how great the movie is visually, to Phoenix's remarkable performance, to the feeling that the early parts of the movie starts off a bit slow and aimless, to the way it builds and builds to it's gut-wrenching climax. The only thing I would disagree wit...

Re: Marvel Movie Madness
None of the TV shows matter when watching the movies. I don't think the Netflix shows are really meant to be part of the same "universe" at all.

Re: Marvel Movie Madness
We started to watch Endgame last week, and it was immediately apparent that we needed to see "Captain Marvel' first. So we stopped Endgame and rented Captain Marvel and then got back to Endgame. I'm kind of tired of the required viewing thing. Just think of it like a TV series. If you want to ...

Re: The last movie you saw Thread
I saw Joker. It is a veeery dark, bleak movie which makes it hard to say I "liked" it, but I do think it was impressive and quite well done, and even beautiful in it's own sad way. As I fully expected, all the controversy around it is entirely unfounded and should be ignored as much as pos...
