I heard the announcement about the special prosecutor on the way home from school yesterday. Looks like the Senate Judiciary might pursue this all the way, with or without support from the spineless Democrats in congress.

This is a little off-center from what we usually post in this thread, but I mentioned reading Jasper Fforde's new book above (First Among Sequels) and he's in the US right now on a book tour. I got notice of this too late to make any of the East Coast appearances, none of which were in Philly anyway...

The real leaders in a public school setting emerge from within and are rarely designated as such, nor are they rewarded monetarily. I know whose lead I follow, and I know a few who follow mine. None of my administrators would be able to draw those lines on an organizational chart, solid or broken l...

for instance Bridgett Jones' Diary was brilliant on screen. Yeah, I really enjoyed that film too! It was way above the typical romantic comedy. But I haven't read the book yet. What's on the reading list right now ... Rant by Palahniuk. I started that at my daughter's house but couldn't bring it ho...

Sometimes I do prefer the movie version. The director has a clearer vision of the story than the writer had. On TORC back in the Springtime they were discussing The Presige, which movie I really liked and admired for its depth. One poster said it was basically the same as the novelette, and another ...

<Jnyusa here> Sorry it took me so long to get back to this thread. While I absolutely agree with this statement in general, I wonder how my non-profit hospital laboratory fits into this picture. Labs are always money losers for the hospital, when looked at by themselves. And yet other parts of the h...

Thought I would drop in here and tell a funny story, given the death threat in the title of the thread. ;) Apparently one of our radio djs yesterday did a riff on the new Harry Potter in an afternoon talk show and pretended to reveal which of the characters died. I didn't hear the show so I don't kn...

Love the new skin, Jn! Thanks, Trazzie! The symbolism is all wrong ... the one ring should be the powerful, admin identity, and Jnyusa should be the regular poster. This is the Walmart knock-off Ruling Ring. :D Voronwë , LOL, I still have copies of all those 'morality' and 'ring temptation' threads...

Through Sam's inner vision, the reader finally gets to see just how the Ring works. Yes, that scene is one of the keenest looks at the inner life of a character that we receive anywhere in the book. From that scene we can back-calculate to what Aragorn's temptation must have been, and Boromir's and...

I'm taking a hiatus, nel. I won't go back and forth between the two i.d.'s - which would probably be beyond weird for the members. This will be my 'skin' until the end of the summer at least. Could have registered as a new person but I thought that would be even stranger. At least posters have alrea...

Hi, Everyone! I'm not a new poster but I'll be posting in a new mode for awhile, and it felt right to come here first and introduce myself before showing up in threads with a new name! Posters experience the board differently from admins - ain't it the truth - and I thought I would abide an i.d. for...

A Long-Expected Party
A Long-Expected Party When it was announced in the Hall of Fire that they would shortly be celebrating their one-year anniversary with a party of special magnificence, much talk and excitement was expected in all the forums. The Marshals in the Hall of Fire were not very rich but they were very pec...

I need a lawyer. Do you know what these ... these ... yrch! PTB did to me over the weekend? They banned me! Did they have probable cause? No. Did they have a warrant for my arrest? No. Did they have a writ of habeas corpus? No. They did not even PRETEND to have those things. It was an experiment AGA...

I suppose I'm too late for the mass wedding. [sigh] That would be the story of my life. They say you gain on the swings what you lose in the roundabouts, but I always get stuck in the roundabouts ... rolling around and around and around ... do you know how hard it is for a ring to turn right or left...
