Re: The Band of Heaven

He kept some darn good company. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsYMBD0TUbE He and the Heartbreakers also toured as the backup band for Dylan, co-headlining with the Grateful Dead. I saw a few of those shows. The quality of the memories of a music concert always has a clarity which is distinctive. ...

Re: Star Trek Discovery

I though episode 3 was better, one thing still bothers me, it doesn't matter how hefty the make up is, you can always tell when it's Doug Jones behind the mark. I watched the horrible after show programme just to catch Doug talking, the creepy thing is that without his make up he still looks like an...

Re: The Band of Heaven

This one hurts as well

not this highest fidelity, but this performance has always been with me - I saw this cut when first broadcast- this was a proper rock and roll band, they just dripped authenticity and quiet passion

Well we used to live near by the river Windrush, not so far from the Wychwood in West Oxfordshire, we once looked at taking a house in the Village of Coombe.

Re: TV obsessions—come on, admit it!

Just started with Luke Cage, it's got a decent story, and I think the acting is really good, but I have to admit that I don't always get the dialogue, it may be the authentic lexicon, or that the characters are frequently speaking against a backing track that's too intrusive. but it does require qui...

Re: Brexit Carried - Cameron Resigns

Unless the Mayhem is very anodyne with her policies she will not last 6 months. The idea that the alliance with the DUP, which historically has ha links with protestant terrorism, will offer stability I don't buy. The manifesto of the DUP was anti-austerity so it will be interesting to see how they ...

Really spoilt at the moment, American Gods, my favourite Gammon novel, Twin Peaks not seen yet, saving this for a binge watch, a new season of preacher starting in June, he goes on a road trip with Tulip and Cassidy, and the waiting for Expanse 2 on Netflix

its quite an eerie place - sacred ground for maybe 4000 years, it is well away from any settlement - I guess less than a 1/4 of a mile from the sea

more old churches, this is St Adamans Church in the parish of Lonan It's Manx name is Keeill ny Traie, the use of the word Keeill is interesting and indicative of it's age. Keeill is a term that comes to mean a small religious building dating from the the 6 -12 centuries. I am not so sure that they ...

I was hit hard by the Manchester bombing last night, the place where the bomb exploded was exactly at the spot where I used to collect my son after he had been at a concert at the arena. Feeling lonely and a bit desperate I headed off to the most Southerly Point in the Island for some solace this is...

Re: Fifteen years on...

I am just going to echo everyone else, I was very nervous going into the cinema, I hadn't seen too many trailers, and I was reassured by some of the actors being used, but that beginning drew me in so much that I even forgave the loss of Bombastic. I don't think I really came down until halfway thro...
