Thank you friends... I would really like to get a proper digital camera and get back into photography. There are some amazing vistas and small spaces around here, the likes of which would have warmed Tolkien's heart I think.

Iron Man 3

This post contains SPOILERS Iron Man 3 is about the most intelligent movie of the genre. Stark (Iron Man) spends very little time inside his suit. When he does he is almost always only partially suited up, and often when completely suited up the suit malfunctions and/or he has the face mask raised. ...

I had a student who could not sit still, nor seem to do a lick of anything resembling school work. However he was a wizard at a game called Stronghold, which is a Medieval sim/RTS game where you build a kingdom. In order to succeed you have to manage resources against production, deal with a populat...

Well, perhaps the look of them -- though I rather think he favoured something along the lines of Goya's "El coloso." Turning the scene into something that would make a wonderful theme park ride was all Jackson I'd wager. :P

Hey, that's GladOS! Yes, the voice is a cameo of sorts and originally was straight up GladOS. However they changed the voice's modulation or timbre in the most recent cut because G felt the voice in the natural might be too jarring for people who recognize it. ETA: here's a link to an article about...

My sense is (at least from the trailers) the story could become overwhelmed by the technique for some viewers. However, thinking back upon the first Star Wars, yeah, it was all about the technique if you wanted it to be, but the story came through all the same. What I've gathered of the story is the...

At lunch recently, with a new boss and co-workers, my fortune cookie said:

That's the flip side of the memorial quality of online text (about which I agree). What if you build it and they don't come? If you're having a conversation at a party with someone, and they're interrupted and have to excuse themselves, you see it happen, and you can move on, get a drink, and edge ...
