I predict an A+
From the ashes, a fire shall be woken. A light from the shadow shall spring. Renewed shall be blade that was broken. The crownless again shall be king.

Very nice, very well defined.

I don't know what kind of flower it is, though....

Is it the center part of a magnolia blossom? The part that falls off the tree after the petals are gone?
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

The leaf looks like a sweetgum. I'm not sure about the top drawing.

In either case, GORGEOUS!

Prim knows everything. Didn't you know that already, yov?

Great job on the drawings, yov. You definitely are talented, and you're definitely developing that talent. Good on you!

To those curious, here's the fruit-thingy in question (this is what it looks like when it's dried up):

No, no bonus points. Mr. Prim and I have one of those big magnolias in our back yard. We spend many early summer evenings sitting in its delightful shade, sipping artistically constructed beverages, and perusing great literature, and periodically shrieking and swearing as these huge things drop from the tree without warning and spill our drinks and conk us on the head.

But  back, of course! And of course, I'd never have known it if your drawing had not been so fearsomely accurate.

Small spaniels also like chewing on those things, BTW.

ETA: And then there was the time a houseguest thought we had a dead rabbit on our back lawn, and it was just a pile of those enormous magnolia petals.

Boy howdy, yeah. :blackeye:

Your technique really is wonderful, yov.

yov, I love your drawings. Yes, they are accurate and detailed, but there is something more: an alluring, ethereal quality that makes me want to enter their world.
Take my hand, my friend. We are here to walk one another home.

That's a wonderful compliment. :)

Yes, I do try to be painfully "realistic" in my pencil drawings, but I don't want the end result to be a clinical photocopy of reality. I'd like them to have a some sense of...hmm, wonder perhaps? Otherwise, it'd just be technical showing off and not (hopefully) interesting art. :)

IS this for sale? Or entered in a contest somewhere?

The display of skill is amazing. It's like it's among us but not of us, if that makes sense. Something about the lighting, and the way it's off-center on the page. If you'd centered it, it would be more technical than artistic, but as it is it's sort of drawing/inviting you in, a gatepost of sorts.
When you can do nothing what can you do?
