Alas, I can't seem to access anything called the Peacock Room from the top of your site. Because I would so be there.

No, it's a real room. A library/parlor in the Victorian style. I could post photos of it later.

You probably don't know that my house and studio were destroyed by a flood two years ago. It has taken all that time, and the worth of several coats of mithril, to put it back together. As suits the many contrasts of my temperament, some of it is decorated in the minimalist Japanese style and some of it is Victorian, which means fussy and absurdly overdone.

The rest is a mixture of steampunk, Disneyland and the Addams family. Plus, the living room has a fountain in which Captain Nemo's Nautilus is being attacked by a giant squid.

And neon. Neon is an absolute necessity.

Oh, it's much more fun now. But we had to live in other people's houses for two years!
I have also taken early retirement, and I have no more responsibilities of any kind for the rest of my life.
Which is good, in its way.

I have close to 11 years to go before I dare retire, but at least I have some control over it. And we can now afford for me to spend several hours a day writing!

So this one was painted from the Bughouse.

It's not so bad here. On Tuesdays we get chocolate pudding.

Landscape For the Little Tramp

Tolkien called Hitler "the Little Tramp" in mockery of his Chaplinesque mustache. Perfect name, I think!

Anyway, Hitler declared that anyone painting in a modern style (for example, painting a green sky with blue grass) ought to be sterilized. So I painted this picture as a way of telling him to go to hell.

He already has, but I won't let that fact deprive me of the pleasure.

To make a Secondary World inside which the green sun will be credible, commanding Secondary Belief, will probably require labour and thought, and will certainly demand a special skill, a kind of elvish craft. Few attempt such difficult tasks. But when they are attempted and in any degree accomplished then we have a rare achievement of Art: indeed narrative art, story-making in its primary and most potent mode.
