Yes.

Sorry, sorry! LOTR

Yup. :D I was listening to Mark Oshiro read Night Watch, and Sandra the Real Seamstress is just too adorable. :D

OK, back to Tolkien. Do we need a hint?

Most words in the translation are synonyms of the words in the original.

QUOTE: Enemy in front of your family.

Is it related to Gandalf and the Balrog?

No and no. As I said, the words in the translation are synonyms of the words in the original, so we are not talking about the Enemy.

Is the speaker actually referring to the family, or relatives, of the addressee?

In a sense. Not quite that literally, but yes. Also, addressees, plural.

So instead of "your family", it's got more of a sense of "your people"?

Enemy = foe?

Tolkien did use "foe" a LOT.

Jude, it's a different word for that concept.

Inanna, yes, foe. Foes, actually.

okay so Enemy = foe

"your family" --> "your people" --> "your lands"/"your homes"/"your kin"/"your men"

(Did Tolkien ever use "kin", though?)
