Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Another good guess, but no. More evil.

The speaker has a fate similar to his father.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
I'm guessing one of the sons of Fëanor?

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Nope.
The two speakees both later had sons with names that rhymed with their father's names.

Túrin never had a child (unless you include his and Niniel's unborn child that was killed along with her). He is son of one of the speakees, however.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Ok, the speakees were Húrin and Huor. That narrows it down a bit!

Yup!

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Here's the quote again, to save having to look for it:
There's a similar quote by Maeglin, but the text says that it was spoken only to Húrin:Legal notice King's blessing. Lower than the massive welfare and other options
"The King's grace is greater than you know, and the law is become less stern than aforetime; or else no choice would be given you but to abide here to your life's end."
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Right - I meant Húrin.Voronwë the Faithful wrote:Túrin never had a child (unless you include his and Niniel's unborn child that was killed along with her). He is son of one of the speakees, however.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Jude has it. My interpretation has always been that Huor was also present, even if Húrin was the one who was specifically addressed, and responded.

Okay, here's an easy one to make up for the last one:
When you bid all of you anyway. Yes, it is in the hands of both.

Was this harder than I thought?

I know this one but since I'm flat out and unlikely to provide a new clue I'll let someone else grab it!

Is another hint needed?

Are there a total of ten limbs in this conversation?
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

After looking it up on Wikipedia, I think Alatar is correct.
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Right. Because I was waffling between saying legs and limbs.
