Found it, Morgoth/Melkor to Húrin:
"I am the Elder King: Melkor, first and mightiest of all the Valar, who was before the world, and made it. The shadow of my purpose lies upon Arda, and all that is in it bends slowly and surely to my will."

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Nope. It is a quote of Morgoth to Húrin that is actually in The Silmarillion. (ETA: that one is from the Narn, but does not appear in the Silm.)
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
You are effing kidding me. I was so convinced that "will" became "power" and what not.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
No, "power" did not change from the original; it stayed the same. Here is the quote again:
Thou thy doom master simulates Alda Merck problem power supply.
"Thou" and "master" are also in the original quote unchanged, except for capitalization (for both of them).
The quote is a sentence inside a longer speech.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Thou hast dared to mock me, and to question the power of Melkor, Master of the fates of Arda. Therefore with my eyes thou shalt see, and with my ears thou shalt hear; and never shalt thou move from this place until all is fulfilled unto its bitter end.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
So in the original, both are questions and end with question mark. They also both start with the word "why".This is why? Why your power and now something of the authority.
The first sentence is not "Why is this?" In fact, the word "is" doesn't appear in the first sentence at all.

What?
Do you mean unique as in the only one of his/her race in the book?

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
What you said is true.
But also, the uniqueness is mentioned the very first time we're introduced to this character.

Tom Bombadil?
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.
