So, apparently Johnson did send the required request for an extension -- along with a letter requesting that it NOT be granted.

Do we even need all these threads or can we just collapse the forum into the WTF thread?
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Did either of Johnson's letters open up with "Let's make a deal!" and invoke the devil, though?

My pore head is just going wugga-wugga-wugga! :help:
When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

I probably learned that from her!!

I've seen a few really funny memes about how HRH Queen Elizabeth must feel about this situation, but this probably isn't the best place to post them.

Though I'll bet most of Europe is laughing at the U.K. over Brexit...

I hear the U.K. is changing their coinage...

Good one, Jude, though you'd have to be a bit of a geek to get it!

Under the Fixed Terms Parliament Act he still needs 2/3rds of the Parliament to agree to the December 12 election, which they might not do. That, or he could pass a vote of no confidence in his own government.

But he has managed to get a Brexit deal past the first reading stage, which no-one has managed so far (329-299).

A December election is now looking likely with Labour willing to support the bill given the EU has granted an extension to 31 January and No Deal now seems to be off the table. This isn't exactly surprising, given they might win, but Labour backbenchers are still wary. The debate now seems to be on whether the date would be December 9 or 12.

Johnson has also brought 10 of the 21 rebel Tory MPs back into the party.

A new up and coming band has written the theme song for this election.

"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

We've had our last "ORRRRRRRRDAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Order" with John Bercow finishing his very eventual term as Speaker. Deputy Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle has taken the Chair:
