The party also has unadulterated antisemitic policies. It is very uncomfortable - scary even - to be a Jew in Poland. Again.

You would think we were better and smarter than this. That we would learn from history.. but alas, no. It's terribly frustrating.

The Parliament of Taiwan, notorious for its rowdiness, today had a water balloon fight.

Okay, at that point they're just making excuses to have fun.

See, missing out on this sort of thing is just one of the many prices the US has to pay for filling all its important posts with decrepit old men.

We need our government to take a page from this congresswoman and start acting like they represent *us* and aren't bought by their sponsors in business.

... I've been trying to come up with something clever to say.. all I can think of is 'Where the Wild Things' Are. Or perhaps, 'This little Piggie went to market..' would be more appropriate? Piggie needed a new computer. I wonder how the Wild-Fi is in the area.

Russian opposition leader Navalny is in critical condition and widely believed to be poisoned on Putin's orders.
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Thanks, elengil! I was trying to find decent information on the fires, but kept running into paywalls!
When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

The fires will destroy the electric infrastructure and with the heat they've been having it's going to be tough even if an area isn't consumed by fire. :(

Another sad article out of California, but at least it brings closure to many
https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/21/us/golde ... index.html
A former California police officer who became known as the notorious Golden State Killer...

...confessed to 13 murders and dozens of rapes, terrorized the victims in the 1970s and '80s.

Malicious imp Putin strikes again. I hope he is not successful. What does Trump have to say? Not a peep. This could be Trump's chance to show the American people how 'tough' he is on Russian aggression/Putin.. but no (because he's not tough on Russia/Putin). He is their patsy. Putin is daring him to stand up to him but he could push Trump over with a feather. I'm sure we'll hear a "He (Putin) is a very fine person.." soon.

His family and doctors demanded a transfer for days, saying that he was kept in a small hospital that was not meant to treat his condition. They suspect that this was done to give the toxins time to dissipate so that they can't be identified.
