Snow is pretty. Melting snow turns my fields into muck and my cows sink to their hocks walking through some places. I have to wear knee high rubber boots and our tractor is much more likely to get stuck.

We try to feed the cows when the ground is still frozen in the morning, but that's not always possible. And the cows say that walking on frozen muck filled with hoof holes is pretty hazardous all on its own.

Additionally, the ground freezing at night means that the moisture isn't draining away. It just stays there until the afternoon thaw and doesn't have time to go away and then it freezes again.

This frozen muck phase has been going on since the beginning of the year. Every time I think it's going to finally dry up and solidify.... it snows again. :( We are going to get another 3 inches or so this afternoon.

Body language! :P They walk like their feet hurt- sort of careful and worried they are going to get hurt again.
My husband thought they were limping this morning, but it's just a sort of jerky, halting gait. I stubbed my foot on a frozen muck lump and almost fell myself.

“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Very cool, Jonas.

And very cold, looks like.
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Pfft, where did you get the idea that hell was cold?

Seems like he's someone we should think about." - Dave_LF

I live in Orsa Municipality Sweden and the photo is of Lake Orsa taken from Orsa camping. And if you want to see more photos that is available on Wikipedia.
Yovargas if you think that is cold then you should see that it was -25°C on Christmas eve in the evening. :)

Ha-ha, were you lately wishing, very strongly, for a swedish-speaking friend to talk with, elengil. :)

Does Orsa have anything to do with bears or not in Swedish?

Jag försöker att lära mig Svenska for... tre år? Jag är inte så bra på det.

I was watching a youtube video of kids who have been in Sweden for 5 months and I wan't able to follow their conversation with their teacher. So clearly I am not really picking it up well. But I'm still trying! (And trying to get better to use the actual vowels å ä ö and not be lazy and just use a and o because that's what I have on my keyboard.)
