Well, I did say I was working off of memory.

Anyway, to riff off solictr...

Oh, I didn't mean to criticize! I was just amused that it was the movie version that you remembered (as far as I can tell, you got it perfectly correct). I don't think a game as silly as this can really be hypersensitive about getting the quotes right, anyway - a paraphrase would be just as funny.

After all, a Nazgûl doesn't let anything get between him and his Calvins.....

"But behold!" said he, "in the armour of Fate (as the Children of Earth name it) there is ever a rift, and in the walls of Doom a breach, until the full-making, which ye call the Pants!"
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

He is in great fear, not knowing what mighty one may suddenly appear, wielding the Ring, and assailing him with war, seeking to cast him down and take his pants.
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

After all, the Darkening of Valinor and all the resultant evils that befell can be traced to Melkor getting wind of the youthful Fëanor's minstrelsy,

"I see London
I see France
I see Melkor's underpants."

(Apparently "London" and "France" were strange lands revealed in a palantír)

This evidence was a key element in Fëanor's trial before Mandos, as well, because Mandos has NO sense of humor.

The last lines run the pool is up to the wall at Westgate. The Watcher in the Water took Óin. We cannot get out. The end comes and then pants, pants in the the deep. I wonder what that means.

And one from the movie:

And you have my bow.

And my pants!

'Is the enemy coming then?' asked Merry anxiously. 'Are those their pants?'

This thread is so funny I just had to register!

Here are my offerings, firstly from FotR -

'Very well,' said Gandalf. 'But we must not use the pants - not unless it is a choice between fire and death.'

And from The Hobbit -

Bert and Tom went off to the barrel. William was having another drink. Then Bilbo plucked up courage and put his little hand in William's enormous pants.

That one is going to be hard to top.

Well met, Elentári! That's a beautiful Avatar picture.

I called for the help of the Dúnedain, and their watch was doubled; and I opened my pants to Aragorn, the heir of Isildur.

Oh and hi Elentári. :)

The Lady of the Pants! She reads many hearts and desires.

Elentári, hullo and welcome. That was a great way to introduce yourself  (but do tell us more!)

Thanks, guys - I only wish I bore any resemblance to my Avatar :(

Still, I can cheer myself up with more funny quotes:

Men may long remember your pants, Ioreth! for there is hope in them!

But Éomer said: 'Already you have raised the pants of the Kings and displayed the tokens of Elendil's House. Will you suffer these to be challenged?'
