Why is TTT the least liked movie?

For discussion of the upcoming films based on The Hobbit and related material, as well as previous films based on Tolkien's work

And, you definitely picked the moments in TTT that I think are high points, too. I need to watch these again.
Hello, hello, thanks for the welcome! :

I have to admit I love Osgiliath a lot, as well. From purely cinematic perspective. Very powerful scene, and it works within the movie.
Oh, and Arwen's vision of Aragorn's death! It's in TTT, right?
And the opening of the Black Gates! Lots of goodies.

Hee, and the critics at RT seem to agree on TTT merits. :)

The only personal real experience I had with a non-fan watching the trilogy liked TTT the best by far. For pretty much all the reasons I think it's the best.
I think that means I win. ;)

One friend of mine, who read LotR many years ago but is not a devotee, said that she preferred TTT out of all of the films.

She liked the battle scenes. 8) A lot.

She said there was too much crying in RotK.

I did find that funny. ;)

My friend said he found the TTT films the most intelligent and meaningful. He said - unprompted by me - that it had some pretty thoughtful Christian themes running through it.

ROTK is not better than TTT. They're both subpar adaptations and mediocre movies. FOTR is still the best
