Hitchhiker's? Not Dirk Gently? *Prepares to be excited*
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Do you mean Martin Freeman's Hitchhikers? Or Elijah Wood in Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency?

There's a new Netflix series of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective agency with Elijah Wood playing a major character (not Dirk). Its very, very good!

It is good. We haven't finished it yet, and it's very odd, but it grows on you.

I just ordered a blu-ray of it.

I'd recognize those eyes anywhere...
When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

I watched the Dirk Gently series a couple of months ago and really loved it, though TV Dirk and Book Dirk don't correspond, and the storylines don't either.
I'd say inspired by rather than based on, but inspired in the best way.

Mornings wouldn't suck so badly if they came later in the day.

Just started with Luke Cage, it's got a decent story, and I think the acting is really good, but I have to admit that I don't always get the dialogue, it may be the authentic lexicon, or that the characters are frequently speaking against a backing track that's too intrusive. but it does require quite a lot of concentration.
Since 1410 most Welsh people most of the time have abandoned any idea of independence as unthinkable. But since 1410 most Welsh people, at some time or another, if only in some secret corner of the mind, have been "out with Owain and his barefoot scrubs." For the Welsh mind is still haunted by it's lightning-flash vision of a people that was free.

Eborr, closed captioning is your friend in a situation like this. It's available on all of the newer TVs. I would miss about 50% of the dialogue without it, even more if the characters had accents I'm not used to hearing.

We use subtitles a lot, too. Very useful.

More than halfway through binge watching the Defenders, enjoying it a lot.

The cast for Good Omens looks amazing. David Tennant was always my dream choice for Crowley, and that kid actually IS Adam Young.

Can't wait to see the Four Bikers.
Although after the recent weeks, I'm beginning to feel a bit uneasy about filming an upcoming Apocalypse.

We just finished The Expanse, season 2.

The Good Place - a sweetly quirky NBC sitcom about a girl who mistakenly gets into heaven due to a clerical error - is the funniest show I've seen in years. So much legit LOLing!

We love The Good Place, too, yov. Very quirky, very funny, great characters.
Maria, I thought 2 was even better (and more harrowing) than 1. I can’t wait for 3, which they are busily filming as we speak.

So, what season openers are you anticipating for next week or the week after?
Both Chicago Fire and NCIS ended with real cliffhangers last season, so I am anxiously waiting to find out what happens. It looks like at least one, if not several, Chicago Fire characters are not going to survive into the new season. One is a very favourite character (Severide), so that will be a real shocker.
I think my other two favourite shows, Blue Bloods and NCIS New Orleans ended on high notes/non-cliffhangers, but I am still anxious to see their return! Also looking forward to the return of Code Black. They weren't sure it was going to be renewed for a third season! I really LOVE that show! Some of the episodes last year stick in my mind as some of the best things I've seen on TV. And, as a retired nurse, I am pretty critical of medical shows.
I treated myself to a new TV a month ago. The screen is only slightly bigger than the old one, as my space is limited, but I am enjoying its improved picture and sound quality, now that I have all its quirks worked out!
Anyone have anything to say about Michael Weatherly's series, Bull? The cast of NCIS is the worse for his departure, and I didn't think I was going to like his series. But, I've been watching the episodes over the summer, and they are certainly well-written. Stephen Spielberg is one of the producers, so there are some good people behind it. I didn't think they'd be able to make the premise work for very long, but so far, I've been pleasantly surprised by its quality.
