Poopy. I saw that too late - it's back to $15 now.
Mornings wouldn't suck so badly if they came later in the day.

If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

My heart is forever in the Shire.
Re: The Kindle Books and Resources List
Nation, arguably Pratchett's best work, is 1.99 on Kindle. It's a non-Discworld standalone, set in an alternative history timeline on a fictional Pacific island, and it's not about what it appears to be about.
Get it even if you are not normally a Pratchett fan.

Pratchett said about this book, "Nation is the best thing I ever wrote, or will ever write".

Very very curious to see what you think about it, V.

But no pressure.

Have to say, I enjoyed it, but didn't love it. My favourite Pratchett is still Nights Watch. I defer to Pratchett's better judgement on this though!

Impish, your recommendation for the Miles Vorkosigan series has wrecked my work, my sleep and my bank account.

I can't get enough of the Vorkosigan Saga. I re-listen to it about once a year or so.

Re: The Kindle Books and Resources List
The Liaden Universe books are similar in quality and type to the Vorkosigan Saga. They are the closest I've found, anyway. It is unclear which book to start with as there are multiple possibilities, but I recommend the first one they wrote, "Agent of Change". I do NOT recommend reading them according to internal chronology, as the very first one is a prequel in the far distant past and interesting after you are hooked on the stories- but not so compelling as the gateway book.
And if you are tempted to quit the first book early on because the main protagonist seems like a cardboard cut out character... I urge you to stick with it. There's a very good reason for that.
