was a 2020 planner.

That is Barach, a forester of the Folk of Haleth, speaking to a Drûg* named Aghan, well-known as a leech, with whom Barach had great friendship:
"The watch-stone has gone -- Orc-work, I guess. What have you to say to that?"
This was after Aghan had left a watchstone to protect Barach's family when Aghan had to go care for his brother.
There is a wonderful painting in the new illustrated edition of UT by John Howe of a Drûg standing next to a watchstone that I believe is likely Aghan and his handiwork.
* Note that this is one term that is not in the word replacement list, since obviously we don't want it to replace the word "drug" any time that it appears.

And the watch-stone was found some way off, with its legs burnt off and an orc dead under it. It's one of my favorite stories from UT.

I love that story (and I'll have you know that despite getting the new edition recently, I have not re-read that section. But it is branded on my psyche.)
