And here's a webpage on aurora, including a live webcam. Alaska Time is one hour earlier than Pacific Time, and in the dead of winter, the sun sets around 2 PM. Auroras, in my past experience, peaked around 10 PM Alaska Time, which worked out perfectly for those 7-10 PM university classes.
