Mines not really a groaner, its a genuine crossword type clue, albeit targeted at a particular audience.

Well the only thing I can come up with is Blockheads, as in Ian Drury and the Blockheads.

Artery-choke?
When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

I suppose a clue is in order.
What do the Ians have in common, that makes them not?

This really, really isn't hard. And not just in the "simple when you know the answer" way.
I've practically told you the answer already.

and since the TIGGa is so sure she is right:
wrap in leather (4)
has decided NOT to be trickssssy falsssssssse as is so impressed with own cleverness
at solving the 'Ian's' clue and being so close to the artery choke etc.
did ponder whether a wee birdie should be in a close confined thread with a big stripey cat, but has decided to play nice.... reaches out large paw and holds down tail feathers and licks lips.

Hide?

boxer dog wanders into thread and eyes kitty with large paws
lion wanders into thread and eyes boxer dog with lolling tongue
elephant wanders into thread and eyes lion with sneaky camouflage
I see where this is going

Uh-oh ... I have to come up with another puzzle.
OK, got one. A little bit tough perhaps? Not tricksy false, but a small play on words.
Clue: Assists President with paperwork

Well done Tigg!
And yes, Gallo, there were two Sir Ians on set. If I had to make a bet, I'm pretty sure Ian Holm was the first to be knighted.
Incidentally, dubbing in films doesn't make you a Knight. Just ask George Lazenby!
No idea on Jnys.
