:rofl: Ang, that's perfect!

...said "Her-my-o-ninny"
(I liked the part of GoF where she tried to teach Viktor Krum how to say her name...but it didn't make the movie, cause we already had heard it a few times by then!)

When all the world is gone to rack and ruin,
time, my friends, to call upon MithLuin:
her conscience is steady;
her typing hand ready.

I really don't think "Teremia" can be clerihewed very well, esp. the way it's supposed to be pronounced, which I'm afraid is "TerEMMia." So please, please, just skip me so I can keep clerihewing in good conscience and with a light, untroubled heart.

Teremia, she is a dear
Though to rhyme her name causes great fear
But she got the m00bies to read teh book
I really think we should give that thread one more look

:upsidedown:
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

"The last whose realm was fair and free..."
was not penned for Voronwë
But I think he'd like if this board
With those words was in accord.

Now there you go, Teremia
saying we shouldn't. Lemme, uh,
Give it a try.
If you don't like it, I think I'll cry :cry:

(Well, not really, but it did rhyme :blackeye: , and should give people pause before pointing out its flaws :twisted: )

Salute her in verse? My plazure.
:oops:

I confess. I have committed the sin of retouching (and doing it rather badly, too). My original intent was to restore the eyes to their proper color because the digital camera or light or evil demons or whatever washed them out. But it is, um, a bit overdone. They are a very nice blue, however, in real life...just not quite as vivid.

:rofl:

They truly are powerful eyes, even in real life. My son used to be terrified when Strider would stare at him.

Even Queen Beruthiel was known to say,
That she'd rather look the other way,
When confronted by that stare,
It always gave her a scare.

ttbk, that verse sounds born of many scarey experiences with cats and dogs. :scarey:

I've taken up the silly task of writing a Clerihew of everyone who has posted in this thread so far.

Here are the first six I've written:

Alatar
Web Istar
anagram of "wise brat"
I bet he didn't know that!

Old Tom Bombadil
Gave the mooters a thrill
When he sang in the rotunda
with a voice like rolling thunda!

Baby Tuck
is out of luck
He can no longer coo
'cause I've stolen his "oo".

Voronwë the Faithful
Has had his Naith-ful
of administrative discussion
let him pursue percussion!

If economist Jnyusa
Had a gaze like Medusa
She'd turn Jeffrey Sachs to stone
For not leaving Russia alone!

The Queen of all the universe
Has to fight a dreadful curse
Of posters who call her "vision"
Contrary to her one-eyed decision.

Faramond, Faramond,
decided he would abscond
with all clerihew glory;
it won't even interfere with his day job a bit -- at least, that's his story.

Faramond, very clever use of words!

The odd thing is, now, whenever and wherever I see teh word VISION? I think someone's referring to me! It's true.

Our credit union has recently adopted a new data processing server and sent out little brochures in with the monthly statements: A New Vision for . . . " etc. I was thrilled, I thought they were addressing me. Just for a second, you understand!
Dig deeper.

narya posted a ditty
but was passed over due to the kitty
and her glaring blue eyes;
for which we 'pologize.

Gracious indeed is our Cerin
For noticing all posters therein
Both the lurkers and shouters
The in-crowd and outers,
And those who are simply declarin'

Sorry, but I just have to make it into a limerick. Too many years of well meaning tutelage.

I must confess that I've read the word more than once and just for a moment thought it referred to you, too. Probably because it is a word so often used in dignified, high-brow intellectual discussio ... hmmmm, hang on. Whoever would make that connection? :P

;)

( Being clever with words is just one of the many things Faramonsters do well :love: )
