I will add my  to the hundreds that are going out to Liddy and Estel. You both have touched many people's lives. Don't ever think otherwise.

Lidless and Estel are in my thoughts. Hope they get off of this with just a fright.

But, I also hope that this will mark a turning point in Lidless' lifestyle - it isn't better to burn out than to fade away. :(

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

It doesn't quite warrant a thread of its own so I decided to put it here.

Prayers for Lidless and Estel. I especially pray he will find the strength to give up those blasted cancer sticks he smokes, and cut back on the booze, the two main things that are causing this problem.

We care about you, Lidless, and Stellie needs you! We want you to be around for a good long time yet, so stop doing stuff that is putting your life at risk! :rage:
When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

I was informed by a Muslim friend back in Toronto that Ramadan starts today as well. :)

Happy new year to those who celebrate Rosh Hashanah - I saw a report about how it's celebrated on TV today, which was very nice - and a good Ramadan to those who keep it! :)
but being a cheerful hobbit he had not needed hope, as long as despair could be postponed.

Thx everyone.

Short version:

Finally escaped. A small amount of heart disease - not enough to require surgery, just meds for a year minimum. Thanks to *everyone* who expressed concern. Wow.

I'll post a longer version over the next few days on B77, along with some penetrating observations about being an NHS patient.

I'm relieved you're OK, Lidless. [nag] Take your meds! [/nag]
Take my hand, my friend. We are here to walk one another home.

I don't know how many of you know Berhael - she posts on TORC and also on B77 but she has sometimes posted here.

Her mother is very ill with cancer and it looks like the situation is worsening. She is now struggling with trying to decide how and when to return to Spain to be with her Mom. She is an only child of an only child, so much of the burden has fallen on her.

Please offer your prayers for her - and for her Mom.

Thank you for letting us know, Jewel. :( That's sad news, and a very difficult situation for Ber. I know she and her mother will be in the thoughts and prayers of many of us here. They will certainly be in mine.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”
