Definitely. Congratulations, Elen, on the win but I still want to see which of us get the silver and bronze.

Sure why not?

Actually, technically speaking, the rest of you have the opportunity to tie with Elen if you complete your journey to Mt Doom in this round. Elen was the first to play, and so has played one more round than the rest of you.

Voronwë, your question:

What was the name of the door that led to the Hallows of Minas Tirith?

Code: Select all

Players:

  Elen (Moderate)
* Voronwë (Expert)
  Inanna (Moderate)
  Holbytla (Expert)
  CosmicBob (Moderate)
  Ethelwynn (Moderate)

Retired:
Wampus (Moderate)
Samaranth (Moderate)

I'm sure there must be another name, but the only thing that I am recalling from the tale of Denethor's madness is "the Closed Door." For lack of a better answer, I'll have to go with that.

Correct.

What did Gimle say he could have done when he found Pippin under a heap of bodies?

Torn his beard out
Rent his hair
Trampled his own feet
Wrung his hands until they bled

Torn his beard out.

(I guess). I'll stay at the plateau for this round.

Buried him, though Wormtongue has been hungry of late. IIRC anyway. And I will press on if correct.

Correctomundo! Your question to tie with Elen:

Who told Théoden that the weather was changing as Ghân-buri-Ghân had said?

I don't know.
It was a Rohirrim though. Ghân and his troupe were long gone by then.
The letter "w" comes to mind, but alas that is all and not to much of a guess either.

I'll say Wynona Rider. :P

Sorry but the name is eluding me.

This one I have no idea on. But the only one that makes any sense to me is "The White Company". Only because "Troop" and "Legion" don't ring any bells at all.

I will go on, should I be correct.

Correct CB, your question to tie with Elen:

What did Gimli choose when offered any gift from King Théoden's Armoury?

Another tough one. Can I just say some piece of armor? :)

I think it was some kind of headgear. A helmet, I'm going to say.

And this was a fun game! Thanks for running it.

Sorry CB, only half right! A cap and a shield was the correct answer.

Ethel, your chance to tie with Elen:

What were the last words of the King of the Mark?

Théoden asked for either Éomer or Éowyn just before he died. I'm going to say it was Éowyn, since the phrase "dearer than daughter" is sticking in my head.

Here's hoping that's the answer. If you want the last words Éomer said in the book, I'm completely at a loss.

Its close Ethel, but given this is a final question I'm saying "No cigar!"

Théoden's last words were "Bid Éowyn Farewell"
