Quarantine Qulture
Quarantine Qulture
I thought we could use a thread to keep track of the amazing cultural events happening online during the time of coronavirus.
Right now, April 18, The Phantom of the Opera is streaming on YouTube. This is a 2011 recording from Alberts Hall.
For the US viewers, video will be take down Sunday 4/19 11am Pacific / 2pm Eastern. Earlier in the UK, I think.

If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Re: Quarantine Qulture
That's awesome, Al! Thank you. There has been a number of times that I have wanted to post Facebook videos but were unable to (though sometimes they are also available as youtube videos). Let's do a test. The great Jorma Kaukonen has been doing live streams every Saturday, and his longtime partner in Hot Tuna, Jack Cassidy, has been playing along from home.
Awesome, Al! Thanks.

Re: Quarantine Qulture
I saw it on big screen when a local independent theater was doing a series of shows from National Theater. Cumberbatch was the monster and amazing.
Unfortunately, my husband was not prepared and I think he was traumatized a little. Probably shouldn't be watched by children and impressionable adults.
Here's a headline I have not anticipated ever reading.
Japanese aquarium urges public to video-chat eels who are forgetting humans exist

At any moment, the urge to sing Lion Sleeps Tonight is just a whim away... a whim away, a whim away...
The dumbest thing I've ever bought
was a 2020 planner.
"Does anyone ever think about Denethor, the guy driven to madness by staying up late into the night alone in the dark staring at a flickering device he believed revealed unvarnished truth about the outside word, but which in fact showed mostly manipulated media created by a hostile power committed to portraying nothing but bad news framed in the worst possible way in order to sap hope, courage, and the will to go on? Seems like he's someone we should think about." - Dave_LF

Does that mean the event has already happened? Or that people are contributing to the go fund me page beforehand?By Thursday afternoon, the star had raised more than £31,000 of his £100,000 target.

Re: Quarantine Qulture
The article says the reading is tomorrow, Friday May 8, but it doesn't seem to give a time.
