Dora was useless thus making her annoying, so I guess that would fall under her plot function. She's no Bella Swan I'll give you that.

Briony from Atonement was really annoying too. She was a brat that needed a swift kick in the pants.

RE: Bella We said literature . ;) I wouldn't call Dora annoying per se. After all, inappropriate relationships are at the heart of about half of all literature. :D There should be a separate category for characters and actions that make you go "BUT WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!" Don't make me c...

First character I thought of was Bella Swan, absolutely detestable in every way possible. Could she be a bigger Betty Sue? Can't believe she didn't appear until the third page of this thread, unless everyone is just so ashamed to admit they've read Twlight...I know I'm not really proud. Dora Spenlow...

I didn't think I could get that flutter of messageboard unease anymore, but years later it still happens. Are people really still going on and on and on about semantics? The issue is stop discriminating against people for being different. Equal rights for homosexuals. Let them marry even if the act ...

I loved the Lovely Bones at age 24 but I would agree a 16 year old would also enjoy it probably for the same reason I did :). Louisa May Alcott's Little Women is one of my favorite stories although I can honestly say I've never finished reading the book. It's a story I know so well I can pick it up ...

The first thing Obama should do is ban the word Maverick. I can't even watch Top Gun anymore :(

Obama's from the Land of Lincoln so it was only appropriate to quote Lincoln in his speech. It made me incredibly proud to be from Illinois (the s is silent). Obama knows where he came from and he'll be taking that good ol' Midwestern charm back to DC (again) :D.

Puppies are only for those moving into the White House. It's called the Puppy Act, he's signing it with his mind as he gives his speech.

I agree! How unclassy of his audience to boo Obama very unpatriotic :P

While I don't agree with McCain on most issues it was Palin that made me hate the party.

It's been a very happy Pride (I'm sure) in Long Beach this year. I must admit that I'm actually proud to be a Californian. It even gave me hope that I might actually be able to make it out here because Cali isn't all that bad right? But then I saw a roach and rent prices and said "I'm so outta ...

I try not to CNN if I can help it and this only confirms why. I loved the part about CNN scaring the general public about bird flu, shark attacks etc etc. It's so true that the news is only out for ratings and not to inform people of genuinely important information.

Event Horizon has Sam Neil and a bunch of other people I don't think Spader was in this one though ;). Since my first viewing of EH I've stayed away as it disturbed me quite a lot. Now, it's been about seven years since I saw it and would like to see it again to see if it's as scary as I remember. I...
