Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions

I was distracted by the yellow tile malfunction, made a couple of stupid moves and ended up quitting when I didn't have enough moves left to solve it.

Re: What are you reading?

There are a lot of complaints about the narrator on Audible about "The Priory of the Orange Tree" I don't think I'll spend a credit on that just now. And Thornhedge is too short to use a credit on. Yeah, I'm trying not to have to buy more credits right now. I'm mostly listening to free tit...

Re: The last movie you saw Thread

This week we watched 2 movies. The first one was "Life" which on the list I chose it from was described as "thought provoking" and "thrilling". So we thought we were in for a *good* man meets alien movie. Nope. In no time at all it devolved into a horror movie. The sci ...

I like this game: https://www.puzzmo.com/+/weather/play/spelltower
I got 1094 points on my first try. I don't know if that's good or not.

Re: What are you reading?

I've started listening to Tanya Huff's Valor series. I'm impressed so far. The science fiction is good (as in, I haven't heard anything stupid as far as space travel goes) and the military details are also so realistic that I looked up her biography and yes, she is a veteran. So that's kind of cool....

Re: Dune

Last week I was on a long car ride with my husband. The audiobook I'd picked out as a possible listen for the drive wasn't good enough to continue- so we decided to go with the book he was listening to, "Dune Messiah". I figured I wouldn't have any trouble dropping into the story in the mi...

Re: TV obsessions—come on, admit it!

I prefer space opera that has decent science in it. :P I dropped out of StarTrek Discovery very early on, due to their idiotic spore drive. Another thing I dislike about the Picard third season, is that the writers seem to have a near complete lack of understanding on how the chain of command works....

Re: TV obsessions—come on, admit it!

Watching season 3 of "Picard" is getting to be onerous. The number of errors due to basic facts of being in space seem to increase with each episode. :bang: Also I'm finding this very irritating: The plastic surgery done to the faces of the actresses who portray Deanna Troi and Beverly Cru...

Re: TV obsessions—come on, admit it!

I don't know if I'm a hard core fan or not- but I did find some of the jokes that poked fun at things from the real series a teensy bit offensive. I can't remember an example but while the first incidence was shocking and (therefore) I laughed, repeated assaults against one of my favorite shows just...

Re: TV obsessions—come on, admit it!

We watched a couple of episodes of Lower Decks, but I got tired of it rapidly and dropped out. Constant, frantic attempts to be funny just fall flat after a while, and I found myself glancing at the clock constantly to see how much time was left. Not a good sign in a very short episode!

Re: TV obsessions—come on, admit it!

We signed up for Paramount+ this year, just to watch Jon Stewart on the Daily Show once a week.... and we've ended up hooked on the series "Picard". I wasn't expecting much, but it is actually quite well done. :) My only quibble so far is a canon issue. Spoilered for those who care: In the...

Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions

I start with the same animal every time, and depending on what shared category shows up next, I pick something as wildly divergent as the category allows.
I don't know the category definitions and have to re-read every time.
