God I hope they don't mess this up too much. Bridge to Terabithia was and is one of my favorite books. First book to ever make me laugh out loud, and first book ever to make me cry.

Please, do not let them have messed it up :wimper:

A miked chorus? You would lose so much with that - only expression added by sound people and and and.... It just seems so sad to me. I sang with a choir at Carnegie once (Poulenc - Gloria), and whilst the chorus was not miked, the soloists were. On the recordings, the chorus sounded gorgeous...

I like him, but then I was planning on being an underwater archaeologist for years, so I may be biased :P

It's like James Bond, but with Indiana Jones type archaeology  :blackeye:

I've got to go with TH on a few things here that I think the Keira version did better than the BBC: 1. The girl who played Jane in Keiras version was actually pretty. With all the descriptions in the book about how pretty Jane was, I was very disappointed in the BBC Jane - even the girl who played C...

I actually did really enjoy this show. Usually, one talent type show at a time is about all I can handle, but this one has some really comedic moments in it that make it worthwhile.

As well as the gems ;)

Ok, last week... Yay for having the Sickstep Crew performing, though I'm sad that Hawk didn't perform. I couldn't figure out why until I remembered the Visa thing - he probably couldn't perform on the show. It was pretty damned cool though. Ok, the couples in last weeks show: Travis and Martha - doi...

One of my problems with the movie is that the trailer for it wasn't sober and restrained. When I saw it in the theater it took me, and quite a bit of the rest of the audience, a few moments to realize what it was about because the trailer so strongly resembled that of a typical action movie trailer....

 Whistler. It was my mistake :help: In my mind, the movies trivialize the event, they don't discuss it. They take peoples heartbreak over an event - not just the victims, but the nations - and turn it into entertainment for the sake of money. It seems like a technological way of "rubber-ne...

Back to this "too soon" business. In other language, it simply means, "Let's discuss this many years from now, when it doesn't really mean that much any more and we can view it as a simple historical curiosity." Intentional or not, this is an effort at trivialization. NO!!!!!!!!...

I'm just irked.... no, not irked... I'm horrified that they're already making movies about 9/11. It's too soon, but it seems Hollywood has lost that something that says that respect is more important than making money. Maybe they lost it a long time ago, and this is just the most obvious evidence of...

Awesome yova - glad you liked it ;) I'll be posting my thoughts on last weeks show sometime today or tomorrow. I tend to do it while watching the show, and I try to save it for second viewing so I can enjoy the show first and analyze later :P Needless to say, I haven't gotten around to my second vie...

I don't base my own opinion on professors opinions. Just thought it might add some weight to the argument :) I'll admit, I prefer his historical fantasy to his high fantasy, but there are parts to FT.... Lets just say that any author who can wrap enough emotion in to make the reader laugh or cry in ...

Alys - avatar or sig pic? Either way, thanks :) I'll have to go look at ToB to see yours Song for Arbonne is the weakest one for me. Tigana is my favorite, but that's because it was the first book I ever read by Kay. First love and all that. My ultimate favorite Kay book is the StS duology. Utterly...

This post includes spoilers about The Fionavar Tapestry . Guy Gavriel Kay wrote FT as the original world from which all myths come from. If you read through it carefully, you can see that it is a tribute to all great myths in the world. Some directly, as seen with his reference to Malory's Le Morte ...

Completely the wrong people kicked off. The only couple that was in the bottom three that deserved to be there was Ivan and Allison. Ivan sucked, and I don't believe he'll get better in an area outside of hip hop. Stanislav was better and more versatile than him by far. Silly choice of men to go, an...

It's fun to read your comments from a more trained eye, Estel. I refute the allegation!! I'm barely potty-trained as it is. He's better trained than he pretends - it's when he's not under my direct supervision that things start going badly ;) I'm afraid Benjy just annoys me, even though he dances w...

We have that in the US as well Rowanberry - it's actually pretty fun :) Yet another show brought to the US by the Brits ;) The couples - I really actually enjoyed Benji and Donyelle doing hip hop together. He does look a bit like a little boy next to all her curviness, but you could tell that they r...

I don't like it that people are with permanent partners this year. That was half the fun last season :( On the other hand, I do like the new voting system. It sucked last season, when if one person out of a couple sucked and the other was brilliant, that meant that both would end up going. Now, with...
