No one should be able to make what is essentially a permanent cosmetic change to another person's body. The only one who can make that decision is the person who has to live with it.

Aw, thanks for that Steve :P My apologies for not replying. Speaking of marriage, Steve and I are finally leaving on our long awaited party ( our honeymoon 4 1/2 years after the marriage ) tomorrow, and I've been exceedingly busy. Now it's 1:30am and I'm off to bed for what sleep I can get before a ...

Just wanted to point out that I did not talk about conservative Christian beliefs because it was an easy target or because I view Christians as the " big bad guys ." I used that particular group as an example because it is the most influential religious group when it comes to our governmen...

Any anthropologist can tell you that the definition of the word marriage varies widely depending on culture and on history. To say that traditional marriage is between a man and a woman and always has been is completely untrue. It's wrong, plain and simple. If one wishes to redefine that as conserva...

I was kissed for the first time a few months after my 16 birthday and it was horrible - the guy kept his mouth closed, but then at the last instant kinda shoved his tongue between his closed lips and between mine  :help: I never had a boyfriend until my second semester of freshman year in uni...

We're both quitting within a few weeks - already have seen a councellor about it, and decided that we're going to use lozenges, rather than gum or patches. Thanks though, V

Social Bonding. What came 1st, the nit or the pick?

I've posted this on b77 and on the Lush UK forum, and an planning on posting it on TORC. I really would like to get some different perspectives on this, as each different board seems to come at a discussion like this from a different angle :) I woke up feeling like shit this morning. The airbed had ...

God I hope they don't mess this up too much. Bridge to Terabithia was and is one of my favorite books. First book to ever make me laugh out loud, and first book ever to make me cry.

Please, do not let them have messed it up :wimper:

A miked chorus? You would lose so much with that - only expression added by sound people and and and.... It just seems so sad to me. I sang with a choir at Carnegie once (Poulenc - Gloria), and whilst the chorus was not miked, the soloists were. On the recordings, the chorus sounded gorgeous...

It's like James Bond, but with Indiana Jones type archaeology  :blackeye:

I've got to go with TH on a few things here that I think the Keira version did better than the BBC: 1. The girl who played Jane in Keiras version was actually pretty. With all the descriptions in the book about how pretty Jane was, I was very disappointed in the BBC Jane - even the girl who played C...

I actually did really enjoy this show. Usually, one talent type show at a time is about all I can handle, but this one has some really comedic moments in it that make it worthwhile.

As well as the gems ;)

Ok, last week... Yay for having the Sickstep Crew performing, though I'm sad that Hawk didn't perform. I couldn't figure out why until I remembered the Visa thing - he probably couldn't perform on the show. It was pretty damned cool though. Ok, the couples in last weeks show: Travis and Martha - doi...

One of my problems with the movie is that the trailer for it wasn't sober and restrained. When I saw it in the theater it took me, and quite a bit of the rest of the audience, a few moments to realize what it was about because the trailer so strongly resembled that of a typical action movie trailer....

 Whistler. It was my mistake :help: In my mind, the movies trivialize the event, they don't discuss it. They take peoples heartbreak over an event - not just the victims, but the nations - and turn it into entertainment for the sake of money. It seems like a technological way of "rubber-ne...

Back to this "too soon" business. In other language, it simply means, "Let's discuss this many years from now, when it doesn't really mean that much any more and we can view it as a simple historical curiosity." Intentional or not, this is an effort at trivialization. NO!!!!!!!!...

I'm just irked.... no, not irked... I'm horrified that they're already making movies about 9/11. It's too soon, but it seems Hollywood has lost that something that says that respect is more important than making money. Maybe they lost it a long time ago, and this is just the most obvious evidence of...
