In fact in the free economy if banks still are not lending (responsibly) to businesses ,each other and home owners - the only way to truly stimulate the economy without raising more debt is to raise taxes a bit and then pour it back into the economy, enhancing the cycle and getting more tax back aga...

with lower taxes, there is more money in the economy. No. A common fallacy. Where does the tax money go? It depends on where the tax money is spent. Most will be spent...in the economy. On govt and defence jobs, on public constructions, most of which in itself will generate more tax revenue. It dep...

And Liddy's post reinforces my thought that the death penalty is mostly the pursuit of revenge, not the pursuit of justice. I'm not so sure. To forfeit one's life because you took another seems as balanced, fair and just as it can get. Symmetry. You cause someone USD 1,000 loss, you pay USD 1,000 (...

Did you know that when a CEO gets divorced, the stock price of the company does down on average 15% over two years, and when his mother in law dies it goes up 7%?

I have a plan to get us out of this dip...

I really don't know what to think of the concept of capital punishment. I used to be completely and utterly against it. But then again, if someone were to murder Jen or my kids, they would not live. No how, no way. There is one phrase that haunts me, and try as I might, it keeps having resonance wit...

[Note: I moved this and the next 8 posts from the thread on the Rally to Restore Sanity thread - VtF] Having seen the utter nonsense and hysteria over death panels by the louder groups in the last two years and the simplification of complex issues into a bruising slogan (normally, but not completel...

All in all the Tea Party movement is just a conduit for people's frustration and anger that (economic) life is far more uncertain than they previously thought, and that 'Big Daddy' Government doesn't seem able to apply the bandage.

Once there is prosperity again, the movement will all but disappear.

Onward Christian Soldiers

By STEVE SZKOTAK, Associated Press Writer – Fri Aug 20, 9:53 pm ET RICHMOND, Va. – The Army said Friday it was investigating a claim that dozens of soldiers who refused to attend a Christian band's concert at a Virginia military base were banished to their barracks and told to clean them up. Fort E...

Well, after Cerin's post the natural response as an adopted child is the supposition that my relationship with my parents must be less than if I were their real child, and that I should love them less too. Parents are defined and remembered by what they do - the love, support and nurturing for the y...

Words. Sometimes you wait and wait for the payoff and finally it happens.

I do believe those are lyrics from My Fair Lady.

I'm impressed, Lidless. Did you really read the whole 130 plus pages? I skimmed some of the parts, but I did read most of it. And I agree with your summation. Yes, I did. It's the last major bastion of prejudice - dominated mainly by religious types. Hence the particular interest on two fronts. Nic...

BP - The New Bogeyman

So, was big bad BP doing behind the scenes deals to get the Lockerbie bomber freed early so as to secure an oil deal with Iran? I don't know what's worse - the idea that everything BP does must be tainted - or that a US Senate Committee has the temerity to ask foreign government officials to attend ...
