I've seen The Grand Budapest Hotel some weeks ago and enjoyed it from the first to the last moment.

Last weekend I saw The Help. I haven't yet read the book. It was a good movie, although I thought the characters were either a bit too good or too bad.

My daughter and I agreed that we could have easily done without Tauriel. The story would have worked without her turning up imo. Not sure about Thranduil. I think I need another viewing to make up my mind about him. The pub-scene in Bree was very similar to the one in FOTR. I am glad that the rest o...

Lali, I'll surely pray for your friend and you too.

Hal, try not to worry about the future. It might turn out better than you think. Nonetheless I'll include you in my prayers.

But I'm not sure that I feel like the trees and the turkey and the ornaments *are* Christmas, ... I think of the traditions of the holiday somewhat separately from the religious reason for the holiday. This is exactly how I feel. Certain rituals belong to certain religious holidays. Coloured eggs a...

I am also Catholic and I've never been happy about him as Pope for the same reasons as Alatar. This office is a heavy burden and his resignation came only a few days after a huge scandal concerning German hospitals run by the RCC. I suspect that after dealing with the sexual abuse scandal for most o...

I've just come home from the cinema. I'm in two minds about the film. For starters, I had no chance to see it in English and the dubbing is never the same. I will do that as soon as I can. The 3D techniques made some nice effects on the atmosphere and landscape. Also I think the special 3D effects w...

Ten years ago I refused to watch FOTR or TTT. I had read the books years ago and had enjoyed them. But the media hysteria put me off the movies. My children went to the pictures and in the gap between TTT and ROtK they watched the FOTR DVD at home. I had some spare time and jumped in right in the mi...

Avatar was fine - as good as it can get for me. I don't think I'll have a real choice anyway. There is probably only one cinema when I want to see the original version (not dubbed) and they might or might not show it in 3D.

So it's not only me. I've avoided 3D versions whenever I could.

Martin Freeman just won a BAFTA award and in his speech he said that Benedict Cumberbach has been cast for The Hobbit.

I missed the whole production excitement, as I stopped ignoring the movies with the release of ROTK. So, I'm looking forward to this part of the journey almost more than to the movie(s). ;)

What a treat on a Sunday morning! I've just finished another reading of The Hobbit and this video made me squee.

I think the music added a lot to the emotions, at least for me.

The German press is cautiously optimistic. They say that this might be a start to a change. The Pope cannot suddenly make a U-turn and he seems to have rendered the other Catholic dignitaries quite speechless. Today the spokesman of the Vatikan, Lombardi, has tried to clarify some of the statements ...

Look at that picture as often as you like, Mahima. :) I doubt that he'll look remotely the same as a Dwarf.

Richard Armitage will play Thorin Oakenshield? I can hardly believe that. This man is 6 ft 4 or so.
