I also posted this on b77... New words form, become popular, and gain acceptance. I have noticed that words become more and more general. "Cool" means a moderate lack of warmth (Your soup is cool), really neat (That's wicked cool), in a good disposition (I'm cool, dude), or on good terms w...

That's an interesting article, sf... Bill Cosby always had a lot to say about racism. "The controversial speech that would have saved Obama's campaign... was delivered on the fiftieth anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education by a man who really has transcended race. On that day, Bill Cosby sa...

...I agree...

Isn't that why he put the cushions there is the first place?

I thought you were insinuating that no one could have that strong of a relationship with God...

But to come out even, we have to have two whole separate commandments for not coveting your neighbor's wife (9) and not coveting his house (10), whereas not coveting is all one commandment in every other tradition. Makes you wonder, what happened for them to be so specific? next time try an Orthodo...

How does the experience of receiving god's will differ from acknowledging your own will? Is that something that words could be put to? Or is that perhaps a part of the struggle of faith? To tease apart what is your will vs what is god's will? It is my belief and understanding that "God", ...

When I got divorced, I realized that we were never again going to have the kind of "family Christmasses" I did when I was a kid and as I envisioned I would when I had my own family. So...I deliberately changed our "traditions." Trying to keep things "the way they were"...

The problem is not so much that officers in ill-regulated departments thnk that it's okay to beat up black people, but that it's okay to beat up anybody if they are perceived to be the Other Side. A good friend of mine is a cop is Massachusetts and I have worked very closely with law enforcement of...

I have great respect for the man and his music...

He brings his Grammy on stage when he plays now. Yet he doesn't need Time magazine.

He's just on drugs and talking in circles...

Ahhh, Bob.

How we love you.

Thanks for introducing the Beatles to "Mary Jane".

A couple of people that I work very closely with could use some prayer, kind thoughts, and positive energy sent their way. First, Pam, a mother of two in her 40s, a great ER nurse, and a wonderful human being, has been diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. She had put the cancer into remission many...

The personality exists in the soul, while the body stores all the memories... I realize manga/anime isn't necessarily the most philosophical of introductions to Eastern thought, but I thought I'd share anyway. The nerdy medical professional would like to point out Phineas Gage, who on September 13t...

Cyd put helping people in need ahead of her own safety—particularly helping women, in a country where that can be deadly dangerous. But I do not understand how you can reconcile your idea with the large numbers of homosexuals who seek to have their own, biological children. I think that the need to have a biological child is strong for all three sides of sexuality. There must be a biological need and/or want to spread your gene...

But you are dealing with an entire continent of people where the last 300 years includes civil war, colonization, slavery, rape and genocide...
