It seems to me that if it really was a health issue, they would have said so, rather than leaving it so vague and open to speculation. But I don't claim to be an expert in these things. Well that's the point. If he was injured on set, it would have been in everyone's interest to keep it quiet: the ...

I thought I'd make a new post here as this is straying closer to gossip... Kazinsky had a bit of a dark cloud over him already when he was cast for The Hobbit as he was fired from his previous gig due to improper use of a camera phone. This alone would have made the local (NZ) insurance houses leery...

Hmmm... well as I said when Kazinsky left The Hobbit, the most likely reason he left was that he sustained some sort of injury while shooting the troll scene (to his leg or knee perhaps was my sense at the time). Having had the opportunity to spend time with Guillermo in RL, speak privately with him...

I've seen it a few times now. Daughters, nieces, nephews and my love all thought it was great. I'm still astonished at how real everything looks (even in IMAX 3D); the level of detail and thought that went into every little thing is staggering. Here's my initial reaction (posted first at DTF): From ...

That's not what I see (cue Lali). Wait, yes, yes I see what you mean. [ETA]: I also see something that looks like a totem or fertility icon on its side in the right third (or bottom third if Jude's logic is applied). Such a fascinating landscape and reflection.[/ETA] Nice album Sir V. I like the one...

Do you think it is fair to say that grace enables us to "remember the good?" In other words, would you agree that rapt in the mystery of grace is something, a gift, that is exceedingly practical?

Something's in the air I guess. Just this evening I did a chapel service on the topic of Grace. It is interesting that while grace is a free gift (often unmerited) it does not end there. According to Titus 2:12-14 [Grace] teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-c...

I like the shape of Smaug's head though his size relative to Bilbo is surprising to me.

The CGI looks a bit dodgy... perhaps it's my display... the blacks aren't there yet. The good news is they have plenty of time to tweak it before December.

Overall it looks like it will be a good instalment.

Smaug has Eye of Sauron eyes.

The CGI will probably look better by December.

Frelga, yes I believe there is value in choosing what is right, perhaps especially when it is at odds with how we may be feeling, with how we would rather respond. Lali, regarding the fruits of the spirit (Gal 5:22-23) that you mention, if find the joy one tricky in the face of certain memories and ...

Thank you for that post, Sir D. I think a very important point is that our good and bad traits balance but don't cancel each other. That's an interesting point. [rambling thoughts]I'm thinking of a person. The things they did over a decade ago altered my life in a way that causes pain and a sense o...
