I like the trilogy because it's fantasy, but it's told in such a realistic way, and involves so many interesting aspects of geology that correspond to our world, that it feels like SF to me. That trilogy blew me away, the whole thing. But I could understand not getting into it; it’s sad, in a lot of places.

That explains a lot. I never understood why Americans talked that way in movies. Even Humphrey Bogart does it in some films.

In movies made in the 1930s, rich Americans all seem to be trying for a British accent. Maybe it was a finishing-school thing?

I’ve seen both seasons of The Crown and quite enjoyed most of both. Seeing history and social change through a rather weird lens. Lots of good acting and crazy interior design, too.

The books are huge, and there’s just not room for everything. They’ve made choices different than I would have made, too; but others I think have been excellent (see the end of Season 3).
