Drottningholm Castle near Stockholm has a lovely 18th century theatre, where you can see performances with all the theatre-technics available to the 18th century stage. Bergman's Magic Flute used this theatre as a setting for the film. Ooh, I sense a 2007 m00t! We can talk about that in Edinburgh. ...

Apart from your tendency to get the facts wrong, I will say that you have exquisite taste in comics. :)

Check your mailbox, Hobby :)

I just got back from the first night of Dracula. I couldn't see much of the dancing from behind the curtain, but what I did see look really interesting.

Where is the filtering being done? On google.cn itself or on Chinese ISP's?

I ask because I was able to use google.cn to find lots of stuff that would fall under the category of "things the Chinese government would like to hide".

I have an uncopyrighted live recording of Callas singing Martern aller Arten (in an Italian translation). Want me to send it to you to upload so people will know what we've been discussing? :D

On a similar theme, do you, or does anyone know his unfinished opera "Zaide"? Like Die Entführung, it's based in a Middle-Eastern country and deals with some slaves trying to escape. All that remains is sixteen numbers - none of the dialogue is extant, so whatever we know about the plot ha...

Urlicht is from Mahler's 2nd - are you still talking about Dracula, or a different ballet? I may need to get you to describe the plot and action to me - I won't know how much the offstage chorus will get to see until Thursday night. Hobby - I don't have a "tightly defined response to what a cue...

If you like ballet, it's too bad you won't be in Ottawa this week. They're putting on "Dracula", with Mahler's Second Symphony as the music. I'll be in the offstage chorus. (unfortunately, we won't be able to see the dancing - it would be interesting to see how they treat the Dracula story...

For comic weirdness, you need to read the first drafts of the Farmer Maggot scene!

Sillier than any of PJ's dwarf jokes - you probably won't believe me unless you read it.

Oh, I'll have to check it out!

I'm currently working on a Mozart aria, "Sento che il core mi dice", for a competition in February. It's an unabashed "display" aria, written to show off the abilities of the tenor it was originally written for. Well-written, pleasing to the ear, melodic, it certainly makes a gre...

Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't annoy me when people say "Hey Jude" - although it sometimes irks me when they apologize for it afterwards. :D Scene 1: Jude meets a new acquaintance Other person: Hey Jude! Oh, sorry, you must be tired of hearing that all the time. Jude: :suspicious: ...
