What is a Soul?

This question came up in a conversation that I had recently with a dear friend of mine, and neither of us were quite sure what we thought about it. Just to clarify, as I have indicated before, I do believe in some form of a "God" even though I don't participate in any organized religion. A...

There is nothing in the constitution that says that the Vice Pesident needs to be a citizen born in the U.S., nor is there any case law interpreting the question, because it has never come up before. As far as I can see, it would be legal; it would just mean that the Speaker of the House (Nancy Pelo...

Bloomberg is such a wild card. Who knows who he would take the most votes from? I certainly do not. And if he asks Arnold to be his VP, that could make him a formidible candidate.

Should this thread be in Lasto? It seems like a topic worthy of a serious discussion. Any objection to moving it, Al?

I'm just going to throw out a few examples, knowing full well that it won't change anyone's mind. As for Sen. Clinton's character, trustworthiness and truthfulness, there are numerous examples of her bending with the political winds. I agree with Sen. Obama that one particularly telling instance is ...

This makes perfect sense, because McCain isn't extremely conservative. He's moderately conservative only, and this combined with his popularity has caused a lot of Republicans to really dislike him. I think it would be accurate to say that he is not rigidly conservative. On the one hand, he is quit...

Ax, well said. I think that the right wing hate campaign against the Clinton's is actually one of the main things boosting her support among Democrats, not the other way around. I am reminded of the fact that during the height of the Monica Lewinski/impeachment affair, President Clinton's popularity...

The latest news is that a rolled up 20 dollar bill was found near his body. No illegal drugs were found, and apparently there was no residue of any illegal drugs found on the bill, but that is sure to ramp up the speculation.

Any conversation about the Theory of Courage has to include a discussion of little Bilbo Baggins. The brilliance of The Hobbit (are you reading this, Sassy) is that hidden underneath its trappings as a children's fairy tale is a mighty story of the contrast between the ancient and modern worlds. One...

But of course the most important skill in adapting a work to a different medium is the ability to capture the power of the original, while still adhering to the needs of the new medium. You accomplish that admirably.
