Di, how terribly sad and also how beautiful that Tasmin's parents have such a faith and were surrounded by such love.
But, to lose a child...damn. I cannot imagine anything more painful.
Thanks to all who prayed for Adam - I just got back from 10 days in the states and he is on his way to making a full recovery (although he is damn annoyed at how long it is taking.) He was almost "back to normal" by the time I left, though, and now is concentrating on putting back the 15 pounds he lost during his ordeal!
"Live! Live! Live! Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!" - Auntie Mame
Yes, this is the one aspect of Adam's travails for which I have no sympathy. None.
I'm very glad to hear he's recovering so well.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Di, I am so sorry. We have some very dear friends who lost a child at age 6 to cancer about 10 years ago and that loss is one I don't think anyone truly gets over. My thoughts and prayers are with them.
The world is indeed full of peril, and in it, there are many dark places; but still, there is much that is fair, and though in all lands, love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.

Thank you, Arathorn.
I am so sorry to hear about your friends.
I will be going to Tamsin's funeral this Friday. I'll be taking a box of Kleenex with me!

For my two friends - and the tens of thousands of others like them - who got laid off in today's mass layoffs nationwide. These are unfortunate times.
I won't just survive
Oh, you will see me thrive
Can't write my story
I'm beyond the archetype
I won't just conform
No matter how you shake my core
'Cause my roots, they run deep, oh
When, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, "You're out of time,"
But still I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise
I am grateful to be able to feel some hope now, though of course that doesn't undo the harm that continues to spread and will for at least a while.

Yes, they are.
I really can't bear watching the news at the moment. The retail industry in the UK is crashing and burning with a vengeance. Every single day there is news of more thousands of jobs going. The steel construction industry is hard hit too.
I feel so bad for people with families and mortgages. It's so, so worrying for them.
So, I will be holding these folk, and others, in my prayers.

You definitely have my prayers and best wishes, Jewel. I hope things get better very soon!

I caught that on FB. I'm sorry. Don't know what's going on, but God does. And I'm praying hard for you to be lifted up and carried through the darkness.
