I was born in... (cute internet games)
Re: I was born in... (cute internet games)
Or is it just that everyone on this board is a genius?

Re: I was born in... (cute internet games)
That seems like a reasonable inference.

Yes. That makes sense to me.Maria wrote:Lidless on facebook says the IQ test is whether you click the link or not!

I couldn't hear Yanny even when they played just the higher frequency. Finally found a video where they made the pitch much lower and then I could hear both.Impenitent wrote:Yanny or Laurel?

I can hear only Laurel; Marc can hear only Yanny; Savvy can hear both; Jaz can hear only Yanny even with 30% pitch change!

I have to shift the pitch very high to hear Yanny. It's dispiriting. I know when I listen to classical music now that I'm hearing only part of it, and the high notes are often distorted—there's a "wobble" to them. I probably need to see an audiologist, or at least an ENT—I do think the problem is in just one ear and involves congestion (I can feel it!), but I can't get a doctor to believe me because they look in the affected ear and can't see anything wrong. I intend to be very insistent at my next checkup.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

I had my primary care doctor check my hearing and they told me it's fine. It isn't. And when you speak with an accent, it's even less fine, because people assume that you can't understand them, when you just can't hear them.

Do you speak with an accent? I never noticed!

I hear Yanny unless the pitch is shifted up. Which is weird.

EVERYONE speaks with an accent.
(I know-I know that’s not what V meant. But any discussion of accent-less speech gets my hackles up).

While that is true, I certainly have a very clear aural picture of your lovely voice in my mind. But that is how I think of it; "lovely" as opposed to "accented." I've always enjoyed listening to you speak.Frelga wrote:We are clearly overdue a moot.Voronwë the Faithful wrote:Do you speak with an accent? I never noticed!

Aw, V, you Silvertongue.
BTW, I probably will be coming down your way when the kid comes home from college. Maybe I'll get to see you guys.

I don't hear either Yanny or Laurel (but only because I haven't bothered to listen to it).

I blame the Red Sox. They kept bringing it up during the rain delay of the game with the Athletics. (Who have won the season series 4-2.)Voronwë the Faithful wrote:I don't hear either Yanny or Laurel (but only because I haven't bothered to listen to it).
