I showed this to my 16 year old son. He had been watching Yugioh and some other cartoons of this sort. I expected him to appreciate it or to laugh at it, but he didn´t like it at all - he seems to be a LOTR purist. :)

I guess we need to be grateful to PJ after all!

;)

ETA: ROFL - did you see the Hobbit-Trailer clip, right next to the yugioh one? :D
but being a cheerful hobbit he had not needed hope, as long as despair could be postponed.

Seen that trailer a long time ago...I'm wondering what's so funny about it? Pretty well done, fandom trailer to me.

If you think that's bad....

They're taking the hobbits to Isengard! ... Yugioh version
Not very well done, but I thought it followed the theme....and is a spoof of a spoof!

More videos:

I stand alone - Music video with action clips from the LotR movies.

Fëanor's probation Shot with a digital camera at the Gathering in Toronto... no one involved had had any sleep, but it is funny! Features Finarfin, Fëanor, Maglor (and a brief appearance by Celegorm). Language warning....

Yes, the Hobbit trailer was nicely done (if a few too many shots of the Ring...) It's not their fault we don't have nice visuals of 13 dwarves for the trailer! There is also a wonderful (original) fan trailer on the Media page at www.bornofhope.com though it is currently down.

I've heard that same music for "They're taking the Hobbits to Isengard" to movie footage, mostly Legolas saying "They're taking the Hobbits to Isengard!", and I found it very entertaining. The Japanese-style animation I'm not so keen on.

The Fëanor bit was an excellent concept (reminds me of my efforts at the last year's MOME pageant at TORC in which Anthony Hopkins as Dr. Hannibal Lecter portrayed Fëanor =:) ), and the jazz music was great, but the dialogue definitely needs some reworking. Next time they should leave out the obscenities. It will be a lot funnier.

In case anyone has a lot of time on their hands and/or needs a good laugh:

MOME 2005
MOME 2005 OOC thread (This is where inside jokes are explained, comments about posts are made, etc.)

FYI - I participate in MOME as my Elvish persona, Elwë Goldenwing.

Yes - they took the music from the "original" fan-video They're taking the hobbits to Isengard! but then changed it to Yugioh... So, the same concept as the original video in this thread's opening post...but it was a spoof of a parody...and not very well done. Here is another one, but with...err, original footage and teenage boy humor.
A more 'faithful' version shot entirely in a bedroom
And yet another version with attempts at costumes....

And when I saw TTT a few weeks ago, I had to laugh when Legolas said that line...

I agree that the swearing doesn't really add much to it, but it is just supposed to be a silly spoof. I mean, there's a payphone in the background while Finarfin's talking ;).

Some more...

The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins by Leonard Nimoy, animated with claymation :P
And using action figures...
The Pass of Caradhras
The Black Gate

TBS commercials: It Sucks to Be Frodo
Gollum has Issues
Wizard of Oz?
Studs of Middle Earth

More music videos: Let the Bodies hit the Floor just random action shots
Be Prepared Sauron as Scar from the Lion King?
Seize the Day from the Newsies (well done)
Elves in Tights
And the hilarious Very Secret Diary of Legolas based on Cassandra Claire's stories

And more from the Gathering:
Bruce Hopkins talks about learning to ride a horse for the movies
Craig Parker and Bruce Hopkins talk about working with Peter Jackson

Enjoy :)

Cool links, Mith! :D

I've always wondered if anyone ever put the hilarious clips online they showed at the last RingCon, but I've never seen anything.

(I love Jeremy Irons as Scar  - great version with Sauron! :D )
but being a cheerful hobbit he had not needed hope, as long as despair could be postponed.

I like how that one shows a shot of Aragorn when they say "and Simba too"
Also the close-up of the Black Rider's hood for "vacant expressions" ;)

The Newsies one is just fun because it uses the language of a quest, even though the song is about newspaper boys in New York City forming a rudimentary union in the time of Pulitzer and Hearst ;). That, and the images chosen are spot on "seize a torch and light the way" or "slay the giant" just...work. Better than most music videos trying to take pre-made images...

4 more:
Comedian skit - Gollum on a date
Yugioh RotK trailer
Just My Imagination A music video to a song by the Cranberries. Cute ;) Interestingly, Elijah Wood is in one of their music videos (I don't know if it's this one or not)
Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody

The claymation of the Ballad of Bilbo Baggins (which itself is awful :puke: ) was actually quite cute. :D

I laughed out loud to the picture of the Balrog and a spider climbing on the Frodo figure in the Pass of Caradhras.

The Very Secret Diaries are hilarious in any case... =:)

An advertisement for Lembas

Not that funny, but I thought I'd link it anyway ;)

Another music video, Sword and Shield by Sister Hazel

The Lord of the Rings Revisited:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

A fan version of PJ's movie - what would have happened if he hired a bunch of amateur girls as the actors, used action figures for the CGI/special effects, been more intent on humor, and had less than half an hour to tell the story ;). For low budget, it's pretty well done, though I must admit I didn't watch all of it.

A tribute to the BEARDS in LotR:RotK :D

And a trailer for the same concerned solely with Merry and Pippin ;)

And a music video for Into the West, using RotK clips

Just to show you three very different things you can do with PJ's movie ;)

Though, THIS is why trailers are not 6 minutes long ;) I think I caught Narnia music in there...

The Addams Family - because an army of 10,000 Uruk-hai is amusing!

....while a Ringwraith statue in a mall is scary! (and Part 2)
Oh...and the Supertrailer with....Dragonball Z

This would probably be funny if I understood Polish, or Russian, or whatever this is in.... And yes, i know it's bad that I can't tell the difference, but I know only one complete sentence in Polish (Niec boc che bogaswavy) and only about two in Russian (Kac vas familia? or Ya ne j'naiu pol ruske) And if you can translate that, then all power to you, because I can only say it, not spell it!
