Rose, it is pretty, and nature.

I finally snuck up on a butterfly!

This butterfly was remarkably sedate. It would fly around and then land and let me come right up to it, and then fly around some more. This was on a covered pedestrian bridge not far from my office. At first I was worried that it felt trapped by the covering, but it clearly could easily have flown thrown the gaps. I think it was just content to be there, though perhaps it was ill or towards the end of its life. It seemed to fly around fine.

Do you use a special lens to get a close-up?

Just the lens on my phone, and not even the zoom lens. The phone was within 10 inches of the butterfly and it didn't move.

You all have wonderful birds, but do you have alpacas?

Alpacas run loose through Oakland neighborhood

I have bad dreams like that.
*** We've moved to a suburb and our sheep are in the back yard, but for some reason there is no fence. They keep leaving our yard and going into neighboring yards and eating their landscaping plants and then wandering into the streets. ***

It's quite distressing in dream form. I imagine it's horrifying in real life. "AHHHHHH! Boogie and Woogie are out! They are gonna get hit by a car! Where could they beeeeeeeeee?" :bawl:

*pats Maria on the back* It's OK, they're safely home now. The gate is locked. The word has gotten out that Boogie is lookin' for love (in all the wrong places) and will hopefully have his dreams fulfilled now that he's got a dating profile on social media. Hopefully he'll be able to practice safe sex. Sex safely? :D :suspicious:

You probably cannot see them very well, but on today's walk I took a pic of geese in the cornfield. There's a lot of them in there. I also saw a hawk but wasn't fast enough to get a photo. My phone/camera probably wouldn't have picked it up anyway.

Here's something from six years ago, January 2016: we stopped to photograph a bunch of mallards taking a refreshing dip in minus 20 weather. I'm guessing they must have been on their way south for the winter.

The day was freezing, so I can only imagine how cold the water must have been. Didn't bother them at all.

Jude, they are not mallards, they are Common goldeneyes.

And here's an Anna's Hummingbird. It was an overcast day, so the head feathers do not refract their usual bright red coloration. He camouflages quite well in the chain link fence.
