Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions
The Times Guild, the union for NYT employees, is doing a 24-hour walkout / work stoppage on Thursday, December 8 due to stalled contractual negotiations with management. They're asking readers not to engage with the Times' content on Thursday (tomorrow, which begins in about three hours in New York).
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Frelga! Easy enough to skip tomorrow's Wordle.

No wordle for me either. I'll just fantasize about posting a set of six rows with gradually increasing amounts of green squares, ending in an all-green sixth row.

I wonder when there is going to be a boycott of Twitter. That seems to be a more dangerous threat to the world at large, actively being used as a recruitment/indoctrination tool for extremism, violence, and hate.

Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions
Rose, the NYT boycott is in support of an ongoing strike, so it's less of "I won't ever deal with this company" and more of "I won't cross the picket line." There is no labor action going on at Twitter now that the public can support. Although I know many people are looking for an alternative platform, and if one of them reaches a critical mass, I will follow.

Re: Games, Riddles, Puzzles, and other Distractions
Well, there's no labor action because I don't think they are union and a great deal of their employees have been fired/let go. It's in turmoil. Sometimes boycotts begin not just with a particular company, but with those who support it (via ads, for example). I am not on Twitter so I don't know how it works with ads (I have ads blocked via my browser). I saw an article yesterday which stated that Amazon and other large companies had ads on their Twitter page which were from a Nazi group. If these companies accept this as part of advertising on Twitter, this will become commonplace. Apple is back to advertising on Twitter.
Amazon, Uber ads appear on Twitter pages of white nationalists restored by Musk (I will also post this in the Elon/Twitter thread)
In another thread, Escaping the Echo Chamber, we are discussing political correctness gone too far. While I can see instances of that I find this far, far more dangerous.

A boycott and not wanting to cross a picket line are two completely different things.
