Sen. Chris Murphy (Democrat of Connecticut) says that he will vote against the omnibus funding bill because it will allow veterans deemed by the Veterans Administration to be mentally incompetent to buy guns. He says this will lead to a spike in veteran suicides.
Murphy also praises retiring Sen. Kyrsten Sinema for her work on the 2022 gun law that (mostly) closed the so-called "'boyfriend loophole' which allowed domestic abusers to keep their guns if they weren't married to the victim."
