Wow! That does not look like Jimi as I think of him!

Re: The Band of Heaven
Reminded me to look into the 27 Club. I never realised Robert Johnson was a "member"

Re: The Band of Heaven
Robert Johnson could be considered the founding member of the 27 club! He is an immensely important figure in the history of blues and rock and roll.

So I figured. But not everyone may be as aware of how important he was.

Rest in Peace Shane
Nice Cave performs "A Rainy Night in Soho"
Glen Hansard and Lisa O'Neill performs "Fairytale of New York" while members of friends and family dance. I think Shane would have been proud.

I believe I was introduced to The Pogues music in the film, P.S. I Love You (along with millions of others). Loved it. RIP Shane.

Very sad to hear of the passing of the great master of the kora, Toumani Diabaté.

Eric Clapton speaking about the passing of John Mayall and the impact that Mayall had on Clapton's career is very worth listening to.

We don't have a separate thread for non-musicians, but RIP Alain Delon, an icon of French cinema, and one of the most handsome men who ever lived.
Let the other societies take the skilled, the hopefuls, the ambitious, the self-confident. He’d take the whining resentful ones, the ones with a bellyful of spite and bile, the ones who knew they could make it big if only they’d been given the chance. Give him the ones in which the floods of venom and vindictiveness were dammed up behind thin walls of ineptitude and lowgrade paranoia.

Re: The Band of Heaven
Just yesterday on the radio I heard Johnny Cash's hit 1970 recording of Kris Kristofferson's "Sunday Morning Coming Down."
I suppose it's fitting this news broke on a Sunday: "Kris Kristofferson, Country Music Legend and 'A Star Is Born' Leading Man, Dies at 88" (Variety).
(And just today I got a (political fundraising) text from Barbra Streisand, Kristofferson's co-star in the 1976 version of A Star Is Born.)
Now just one of the Highwaymen remains.

Wow, I am familiar with the Janis Joplin version of that song (love it) but I had no idea Kris Kristofferson wrote it.

I'll say this. New York knows how to do these things.
