This was the first banana slug I'd ever seen. It was in the Muir woods. While I didn't run screaming I was horrified to think of them in the quantities I've seen in around here in gardens.
My heart is forever in the Shire.

They are pretty rare to see in Muir Woods, or other forests around here. Maybe one or two sightings during a 4 hour hike.

They are particularly abundant at Big Basin. I recall one hike in particular when we saw dozens, including one pair that was mating.

Not sure if I've already posted this - this is from 2023, and came up when browsing my photos. I love the sky colours in this one. Definitely worth posting again!
