Re: Nature Pics
This was the first banana slug I'd ever seen. It was in the Muir woods. While I didn't run screaming I was horrified to think of them in the quantities I've seen in around here in gardens.

Re: Nature Pics
They are pretty rare to see in Muir Woods, or other forests around here. Maybe one or two sightings during a 4 hour hike.

Re: Nature Pics
They are particularly abundant at Big Basin. I recall one hike in particular when we saw dozens, including one pair that was mating.

This may well be the reddest tailed Red-tailed hawk I have ever seen

Not sure if I've already posted this - this is from 2023, and came up when browsing my photos. I love the sky colours in this one. Definitely worth posting again!

You never know who you might see foraging by the side of the road when you go for a bike ride!

Re: Nature Pics
I don't have a picture, but driving to work today on the "innerbelt" freeway bridge (I-90) that spans the Cuyahoga River, I saw a bald eagle flying right on the edge of downtown Cleveland. I've seen one before along the Lake Erie shore in Lakewood about five miles west of downtown, and there are known nests about ten miles away in the Metroparks reservations in Brecksville and Rocky River, but this was the most urban setting in which I've spotted one.

Wonderful. There is a nesting pair here in Santa Cruz, but I have never seen them, much as I have tried to.

Re: Nature Pics
Nice photos V!
There's an eagle nest maybe 10 miles from our home near the freeway that we noticed last spring. I don't think they hatched eaglets but we hope they're back in spring. I'd never seen them in our area previous to that.

Re: Nature Pics
I had a difficult time resizing photos from my phone on my trip. Now that I'm home I was thinking of posting some here and I'm not sure if I should put them here or if they'd be better in a thread of their own. What say you?

The advantage of starting a new thread is that in the future, if you want to go down memory lane and relive your memories, just open the thread from the beginning and read!
