Nature Pics
Re: Nature Pics
Yes, it was a great trip. We went to Grand Canyon as well, but the Petrified Forest was the highlight!

Wow. Look at that crest.
We did a weekend trip to Cape May, I really liked this reflection shot I took.

This is blurry as the bird was in motion, but here is one of 'my' crows coming for the food I set out every morning.

Re: Nature Pics
Oh, this reminds me. There’s a family of wild turkeys that lives in my neighbourhood. We came across them during yesterday evening’s walk. I wanted to get a picture, but as I reached for my camera Ter went crazy and I needed both my hands to control him and Willow (have I ever mentioned that he is incredibly strong?).
The turkeys then were in a hurry to get away so they did that weird half-run, half-walk they do. I wish I had been able to film that.
And now I know that turkeys can’t fly. Before, I thought they could.

Turkeys can fly. I've seen them roosting in trees and assume they got there somehow.

Yes, I've seen turkeys roosting in trees. They don't fly like a crow or a hawk, but they can fly.. like (I imagine) a chicken.
Jude, you need skates. Or a sled perhaps.

During our morning walk. That looks like a mountain range in the distance, but it's actually a bank of clouds.
I wanted to zoom in for another shot, but at that moment a squirrel appeared and the dogs went crazy.

V, I think you would appreciate the photos here by Brett Banditelli of peregrine falcons and pelicans (near San Diego, I think).Voronwë the Faithful wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 12:52 am Today's surprising friend near downtown Santa Cruz ...

Re: Nature Pics
I would take more sky pictures, except that when I'm out I'm usually trying to control two very strong dogs and my hands are full. But here's one taken from my back garden:

Re: Nature Pics
I've even posted pictures here of Turkey's roosting high in Redwood trees.
