He's written for LOTRO IIRC, and his bluesky has some very fun reflections on Tolkien, which he posts based on the date, Dracula daily style.
I haven't been able to finish book 1, but possibly I was still in my Bad Brain period.
I do think he references Tolkien, but he doesn't copy him.

Heh. Saw this and thought of this group.

My heart is forever in the Shire.

Oh my. How I would love that. Each time I was nearing the end of a book/series, I could just go there. And walk out with a new one. Such bliss.
I don’t have Spotify, and I don’t do audiobooks, anyway. I prefer my own voice in my head.
Tempted to just buy Gareth…

I hate giving recommendations, in case people hate them! But I really enjoyed these.

Alatar, please give recommendations! I look up the ones in here for reviews, to see if they sound like something I'd like. Then if they look really good, they skip the ridiculously long line in my Libby tagged list, and go straight to download or (if not currently available) to the Hold queue. If not available on Libby, I check on Palace and Hoopla.
You never know when someone else's tastes might match yours. I was surprised that the 80 year old woman with mild Alzheimer's that I drive home from folk dancing class every week wanted to discuss how much she enjoyed the Three Body Problem books by Liu Cixin.

Re: What are you reading?
Yeah, Alatar, I think it was you that recommended Robin Hobb's books a decade or two ago. I really like those and might not have found them otherwise.
I finished the Murderbot books. Maybe it's the novella format I'm not liking? The single full length novel, "Network Effect" ... I really liked it. The other ones were OK, but just not .... enough... for my taste. I'm acclimated to longer stories where there's more time for plot and character development. Oh, and Murderbot has Alexander Skarsgård's face in my head now.
I'm on another Lindsey Buroker series right now. She's very prolific and I generally like her books but have trouble remembering them afterwards.
I read her "Dragon Blood" series a while ago, and am now on the spin off series "Heritage of Power". Details from the previous series do come back after a while, with some clues from the author but it's a bit worrisome just how fast I forget them.
They are popcorn books, I suppose. Entertaining enough in the moment, but no lasting impact on my mind or memory.
