Home is behind, the world ahead
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadow til the edge of night
Until the stars are all alight
Mist and shadow, cloud and shade
All shall fade, all shall fade
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadow til the edge of night
Until the stars are all alight
Mist and shadow, cloud and shade
All shall fade, all shall fade

Samwarg, welcome to the Hall of Fire!

“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Greetings and salutations
In your grand hall I solemnly stand
a traveler from a far off land
soaked with rain and soiled from mire
please let me warm beside your fire
Hello folks, I'm looking for a place to hang out with some interesting people and a very nice (and pretty) lady from a northern clime suggested I come here. I'm a little bit like Samwise Gamgee and a little bit like a warg. (not much, but I couldn't very well call myself "Samwise", now could I) I look forward to learning my around here and getting to know you all. samwarg

Re: Greetings and salutations
I think you're going to fit in here nicely, samwarg (can we call you sam for short?). Your poetry would fit in well with this thread: Clerihewssamwarg wrote:In your grand hall I solemnly stand

"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."
Thanks
Thankyou for the welcoming words, truehobbit and Voronwë_the_faithful. Some tea beside your fire would be perfect, and by all means, call me Sam. Yes, I'm a poet, and a bad one, but I don't let that little detail stop me from making a few rhymes. I'm a bit of an artist also, and have drawn pretty much all of the LotR characters.

Please feel free to post some of your drawings of the LotR characters in the Shibboleth forum! I would love to see them.
And there are a number of places for you to post poetry here. I'll let you poke around and find it yourself.

posting art
Yes, Voronwë, I'd like to show some of my drawings. I'm afraid I'm pretty clumsy here and am also afflicted with acute computer palsy, so I might have a bit (A whole boat-load, more likely) of trouble doing what I need to do.

I'd be happy to help. We have a Gallery here so we can host images. I can set up an album for you if you like, and help show you how to upload the pictures and post them.

ready for that help
Thankyou for being so kind, Voronwë. (I'm sorry I can't put those two little dots above your "e") I'm ready to upload some of my artwork any time you feel compelled to test your patience. (I should warn you---- I've been working on this LotR collection for a long time and have more than 30 of them)
No worries, Baby Tuck, it all comes out in the wash. I have it on good authority that the great note-taker who lives underneath the persimmon tree has recorded this said injustice in PURPLE ink and action is now being taken to set things aright.
So, it's settled, then. Sam I am and you is hobby! Nice and easy for my excessively-aged grey matter to deal with. I hope my works don't disappoint you, hobby.
