Amazing! Julie Nolke has done a sketch based on someone in my work group! It's almost like she's infiltrated us.
The question is, do I post a link to this video in the Teams chat and see if he recognizes himself?

Oh dear Jude, funny until you know people like that. We have one that lives behind us that leaves for work a little after 5 in the morning and his truck is so loud everyone knows he's up and leaving for work. The only thing it doesn't have is a diesel stack to coal-roll a Prius.

This is from the videos recorded at live events where actors read famous letters.
The context is in the description.

The writing of the second letter, written by the Cossacks is depicted in this famous painting by Ilya Repin. In 1675, the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire instructed his army to attack a fortress belonging to the Zaporozhian Cossacks. They were quickly and heavily defeated. Rather than surrender, the Sultan then wrote to the Cossacks and demanded that they submit to him. This fiery exchange was the result.
"Aargragaah. It mean lit’rally der time when you see dem little pebbles and you jus’ know dere’s gonna be a great big landslide on toppa you and it already too late to run. Dat moment, dat’s aagragaah.”

Re: Good music and other good stuff on youtube and Facebook
One of the fiercest rivalries in American college football is that between the Ohio State University and the University of Michigan. That was evident again today when Michigan again upset Ohio State in their annual matchup. (Michigan had a middling record, having lost five gives, but Ohio State had been ranked second nationally in the polls, having previously lost only to the one remaining undefeated team, the University of Oregon; OSU will drop several places in the standings now). The result was followed by a brawl between the players that resulted in the police using pepper spray (much of which apparently blew back on the police).
But at halftime, when the game was tied, the marching bands of both universities combined for a joint performance, which I can't recall ever happening before:
Or I should say, I don't think the two bands ever played together during halftime before, but I got to see them play the same show in person two weeks ago at the Bands of America grand national championships in Indianapolis, which was the culmination of a very busy viewing season for me. Over eleven weekends this fall, I managed to see 519 performances by 285 bands (mostly high school bands in competition). I don't think I'll ever try to beat that number.

What an irony that the joint performance happened the same game as the brawl, which I understand was caused by the Michigan players attempting to plant a Michigan flag pm the OSU field after their victory. Do you know what inspired the joint performance?

It was apparently suggested to the two bands' directors a year ago by someone at Music for All, the non-profit parent organization of Bands of America, which since the 1970s (when it was called Marching Bands of America) conducts a few dozen "regional" high school marching band competitions in the fall -- often including an exhibition performance by a college band -- culminating in the aforementioned "grand nationals" contest, at which approximately one hundred high school bands (112 this year) vie to be named BOA's national champion. That event has been held in Indianapolis for 35 years, and for the past twenty years, all but two of the champions have either been from Indiana (whose bands benefit from reduced travel costs, i.e., resources can be put toward hiring better instructors) or Texas (where music education, for reasons unclear to me, is the best in the nation). This year's winner was a repeat from last year: Avon High School from Indiana.Voronwë the Faithful wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 12:30 am What an irony that the joint performance happened the same game as the brawl, which I understand was caused by the Michigan players attempting to plant a Michigan flag pm the OSU field after their victory. I wasn't sure where to put this as it could be appropriate in several threads. Great gift for someone you may know!

As a result of the brawl, the Big Ten conference has fined each school $100,000.Voronwë the Faithful wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 12:30 am What an irony that the joint performance happened the same game as the brawl, which I understand was caused by the Michigan players attempting to plant a Michigan flag pm the OSU field after their victory. I love it when traditional/classical instruments are combined with rock.

I heartily recommend a 2008 documentary, The Wrecking Crew, for anyone who's interested in 1960s pop music. My vague recollection, fifteen years later, is that McGuinn said in the film that working with The Wrecking Crew, they recorded "Mr. Tambourine Man" in one day. After it hit number one on the charts, the Byrds felt that they should do their own instrumentals on their next endeavor, so that's what they did for "Turn! Turn! Turn!" That tune also went to number one, but it took them two weeks to record it.Sunsilver wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 3:40 pm Okay, maybe if I post this here, I'll be able to get rid of the earworm that's been playing in my head for the last 3 days! Three days ago, I came across this old video of Roger McGuinn explaining how the Byrd's first big hit, "Mr. Tambourine Man," evolved. The big surprise to me was finding out The Wrecking Crew did the backup instrumentation, while McGuinn played lead guitar. Carole Kaye, one of first and best known female bassists, was definitely playing with The Wrecking Crew at that time. She's an incredible lady, with an unbelievably long resume of mega-hits she's played bass guitar for. All those hundreds of times listening to that recording over the years, and I had NO IDEA it wasn't the Byrds playing the music! ...
Anyway, here's two versions of the song, which is one of my favourites (thus the earworm). The first features McGuinn soloing with his acoustic guitar. He first does the Bob Dylan version, which David Crosby didn't like, followed by the way it was done on the Byrd's record. The second is from a Roy Orbison tribute concert in 1990 and features a reunion of several of the Byrds former members, plus Bob Dylan! This really is some amazing stuff for any fans of 60s music. As one person commented, "When you can effortlessly improvise to bring harmony to Dylan's unique growling, you really are at the top of the tree."
As for "Mr. Tambourine Man," I see that the original lyrics just sold for $508,000, and I'm curious to know where V will be displaying them.

Then take me disappearin’ through the smoke rings of my mind
Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves
The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves
Let me forget about today until tomorrow
Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves
The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves

When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.
