Good point! As a teacher, I should be paying more attention :D
We're currently working on Lewis Dot structures...and Newton's Laws

The chemist Gilbert Newton Lewis
taught at the two most famous schools in Massachusetts
Not well known for his sagacity,
He introduced the concept of fugacity.

Sir Isaac Newton
was not high-falutin'
He locked himself away
and discovered what was inside a light ray.

When he finally published his Principia
he assured his place in academia,
and history,
and memory.

His Laws of Motion
Explain planetary locomotion
Or why an apple falls from a tree -
it's all gravity!

Hmmm, not very helpful, since I don't mention their important acheivements. But it is hard to rhyme with Lewis!

(Interruption again - we still owe narya one!)

Edit: to add two stanzas to Newton

That's great! I definitely have to show up to your place one day in costume. Image

I realize it's the most
I've learned all week
I can hardly speak.

An Olympian named Clara Hughes
Is the object of this clerihew.
Clara rocks, she's quite the gal,
Medals for skating and bicycals.
Dig deeper.

When writing a poem on Mahima
It's important to find the right theme (uh)
Otherwise you'll find out
What that frying pan's about. :scarey:

The dashing, artistic, Whistler
Is far more handsome than a fistula.
He had is own swooning thread
But it didn't go to his head.

Hey, it wasn't easy to find a rhyme for Whistler!

What? Challenge our Whistler?
Best unfold that fist, sir.
In this thread we saw
That he's quick on the draw.

All hail Jnyusa,
resident genius, a
heck of an economist,
and someone who when absent is definitely sorely missed.

It's "levi-ooooh-sa", not "levio-saaaah".

or am I the only one who's reminded of that line when I read this clerihew?
